WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Same as years ago when Windows 8 was being pushed. Had a computer on with XP, running with no problems, monthly LUDs taking 20 minutes or so to install. Suddenly, began to take over an hour, many reports to same happening from loads of users.. Gradually got even worse, eventually forced to replace computer running version 8. Strange how this sort of thing happens when MS have new OS in the pipe line, old operating systems suddenly become obsolete although MS still 'support' !

    I'm afraid there will be no solution. I think it's just part of Microsoft's "planned obsolescence" program to go along with Window 11's scheme not to work on any old computers no matter how powerful they are. They're trying to get us to buy SSD's since they have programmed Win 10 to take advantage of their increased speed. That's why those of us with HDD's have to suffer the WaaS Medic virus once or twice a week or more. With Windows 10's end of support in 2025 there will be tons of very useful computers that will no longer be safe without the security updates and can't run Win 11. But every one of those computers WILL run Linux so Windows 11 is the best thing to ever happen to Linux. I own nine computers and only one of them will qualify for the Win 11 update but they'll ALL be running a Linux Distro by 2025 if not much sooner. Not one penny more Microsoft Not...One...Penny...More and that goes for you too Dell or HP or any of the other pre-built PC vendors in business today. If I absolutely have to buy a new system to run my music production software it will be a Mac.

    For God's sake - why is this still a problem 7 MONTHS LATER?

    I just had to submit a Feedback Hub report on this SAME ISSUE today. Surely Microsoft has the resources to have fixed this by now???

    Sensitive to all the bad publicity over WaasMedic, AND it (the greatly enhanced MS spyware implementation) not really being a problem in Microsloth's eyes, the "solution" was to distribute a vast majority of the new spyware functions among other modules so there will be no one "culprit" you can point to that is not an essential of the OS.

    Since about two weeks ago when it became almost impossible to catch WaasMedic running, the bogged down boot-ups have not stopped. But now you may notice the resource hog that stays at the top of the list for Disk I/O for up to an hour - even when you are not engaged in heavy disk I/O user activity - is the PID 4 "System".

    Now, Microsloth is going to argue that "System" is the basic OS without which nothing can run and so is necessary. The will NOT speak to all the UNNECESSARY PRIVACY VIOLATING SPYWARE embedded in it. There is no reason it needs to riffle through all "My Documents" or "My Pictures" files at all, especially when I have turned OFF any hint of indexing etc.

    Basically the problem (in user's eyes, not Microsloth's) has remained, only the culprit's name has changed - and been spread to myriad other "essential" services.
