WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    The original post on this thread about WaasMedic Agent stopping me from working was in January, 2021. Is the windows update on October 12 the first time WaasMedic Agent files have been modified since then, or are WaasMedic Agent file modifications a routine, perhaps monthly event?

    I don't check the list of files modified by Windows Update, so I have no idea.

    It would be great if it would actually install, but gets stuck at "installing 100%" and 30 minutes later it says it failed 0x80073701. Tried all the online methods but gave up and paused my updates hoping they have a fix for this update before 30 days is up. I won't hold my breath.

    Update KB5006670 released on 12 October contains updates for the offending file WaaSMedicAgent.exe and associated files. The CSV file list is available at the bottom of this page:

    FINALLY the inept cretins released a fix for this major issue. WHY this utter brokenness was released in the first place and WHY it took so long to fix we'll never know. This denial of service OS has wasted SO much time collectively. Microsoft incompetence just sinking lower and lower... I hate it more and more as time goes on.

    Yes! I'm seeing the same thing, including on my old HDD-only desktop system. Took 'em long enough, but plop, plop, fizz, fizz, ...!
