WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Early PM UK - still no updates coming down. The MSWRT is normally part of monthly release, came thru' OK. The Intel one would normally be a mid term one, this showed the ERROR so does the actual released update not include the normal cumulative updates, cannot locate exactly what the Intel file is that was updated, this apparently is an re-issue of previous update. February release actually picked up automatically late on the Tuesday afternoon, not 1st thing Wednesday as normal. Thanks MarcHoppe (notification came thru' just as I way typing this) for confirming you have same issue, nice to know it is not me only. Updates seem to have gone from bad to worse now. What is going on at Microsoft - looks as they they are in a hole & digging it deeper.

I'm getting the same thing. Only the Malicious Software tool was installed today and even after two manual checks no other updates are offered. I think it's pretty clear something has gone wonky with recent Win 10 updates and M$ knows it. The fact that there is no Patch Tuesday update yet is proof. The WaasMedic issue is gone today on two systems so far here. I've got a couple more to check. But it has gone away before and come back so I'll keep an eye on it....

Another reboot, a cold boot - still no March Updates available. Windows Update from Tack Scheduler has also run this morning - I think this is a secondary check to see if main WUD has run. Still nothing - has March been pulled - we had a pulled release either in January 2019 or 2020. Perhaps a lot better NOT getting updates. Everything seen on web does not mentioned pulled but all mentioned items are timed prior to normal release time.

Update - done a reboot 'Error' shown in WUD app. Pressed 'Retry' & KB45891212 was downloaded & installed which apparently is something to with Intel (processor) i think. Done a reboot - tried again no more updates downloaded - so no March updates. Another reboot - same. What is going on ?
