WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    That's a good question. Why can't we disable WaaS even from an Admin account? You can shut it off temporarily with a Registry Hack but Windows will just turn it back on. You can end task from within the Task Manager every time it runs. For the record WaaS even runs on a fresh and fully updated install of 21H1 with no other software installed. It would run on my laptop for up to 20 minutes even with a fresh install of the latest and updated version of 21H1 making the system almost useless during that time which is why my laptop is now running Linux. M$ has basically turned WaaS Medic into malware for every system with a spinning hard drive.

    As one of the very, very many people pissed about this utility with *extremely vague* descriptions about it's use that hammers my disk every few days for many minutes, I'd just like to add: I'm the only user on my machine, and an administrator, yet here is what Task Scheduler has to say when I try to disable this task:

    What the HELL is going on here? Did I buy this operating system, or did I just pay money for MS to use my machine? Why am I unable to disable this?

    I have the same issue and the interesting part is in the performance monitor it is not possible to terminate the process.

    While this process is running it almost impossible even to access the performance monitor, it tests your patience.

    It seems this process is inspecting the whole PC and maybe even data - I don´t know as it is not transparent - because I have a Desktop with two DVD drives and during waas Medic is active something is continiously accessing the DVD drives even no media is loaded.

    I have this on and off but have not found any pattern behind.

    But because it is not transparent I would appreciate to get an explanation from Microsoft what this process is doing and why it takes so long and completely block the normal usage because of high utilization of resources such as CPU, memory and disk.

    I expect a clear and profound explanation and no lousy excuse.

    This is a useless response. WaasMedic locks up the computer for an hour or more so starting task manger can take 10 minutes and I have never successfully taken a screenshot.

    The issue is NOT high CPU or disc usage as waasmedic typically only uses 1.5% CPU resources and 0.5% to 2% of the disc time. The process should be scheduled to run on shutdown not on start up
