WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Totally agree with MarcHoppe. Also wish to stress that altering anything in the Registry is only for experienced computer technicians, one wrong letter, one extra space could well stop WassMedic running, it may also stop the computer running. There are a few postings about altering the Registry, none seem to mention the most critical part of doing this - that being BACK UP THE REGISTRY first so if anything goes awry, there is a chance to recover.

    My issues are minor to a lot of people, just had when episode when computer was really usable only after 10 minutes from pressing the ON button. Being old fashioned, do not attempt to do anything for 4-5 minutes whilst system files loading, start up-apps being loaded. etc. then under normal circumstances get a 20-30 seconds of no disc activity then both I & computer are ready to go with another minute or so of disc activity. Patch Tuesdays, leave a bit longer as you know updates are being downloaded. Sometimes get a bit of 'slowness' during this period then later find out some app has updated in the background, apps used to advise you updates available, up to user if installed & when, now everything is forced on us. I've noticed all issues I have had are a day or two after a windows update when WAAS runs out of scheduled timing. Does this mean each Windows Update comes with in-built problems that need 'repairing', looks like it to me, this seems to be the common trigger - MS seems to have lost control of their own product.

    1. Updates installed when issue, Windows checks at least 2ce a day for any new issued updates.

    Have you checked your manufacture's website? Windows Update will update driver(s) after it has been published for 1 month.

    1. System maintenance/trouble shoot runs automatically as a regular MS task. Did have errors sometimes with updates but these disappeared over 3 months ago.
    2. AV OK, Window Defender installed - no 'unusual software' nothing new installed for 2 years.

    Ok, you're good to go. But you're using AV anti-virus, right? I just asked.

    1. A system should very, very rarely use 100% disc so the fact it does is cause to worry as this infers a problem.

    I'm missing here: instead of waiting, why don't we check why and which is using disk by using Resouces Monitor?

    If you found some system file is writing, and/or app(s) or services(s) has stopped, let us know your Event Viewer. And while you're uploading it, don't forget to delete some personal information.

    1. No need for a new thread as this thread is in connection with WaasMedic using 100% disc on frequent occasions - I have only had the issue once - normally WaasMedic running takes 50% usage including all other processes, as this happens at boot, a large amount of disc is required to load system files, app start--ups etc. (in my case minimal number)

    I do have a Dell computer but I assume all contributors to this thread have various other makes.

    Oh, I'm using ASUS now. And I mean: "with detailed information from Windows Error Reporter" is report it.
