WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    MarcHoppe - As with a lot of things, MS seems to have two parallel systems. There is the 7 day scheduled run but it appears it runs at unscheduled times a day or two after you receive & install any update. March I received the monthly release on 11th March (day late for some reason (UK)). Scheduled run would have been on 14th March but had an out of schedule run on 12th with scheduled run on 14th. Likewise, on 9th April am, had a display adaptor driver come thru. Next day on 10th it ran and again on 11th to schedule. Same seems to happen with WUD's. This auto runs every day at boot on condition last boot was more than 12 hours previous so if I have a late evening boot, it will run then. Scheduled Tasks Windows update runs for me every day at 4.49 pm to catch anything that has not been picked up by main run, computer not been turned off for an extended period for instance meaning the boot run not occurred.

    My issue with WaasMedic started around that time as well. I did a google search and came across this thread. On April 11th the last scheduled run for Waas one of my systems which is still on Win 10 20-04 ran it for 11 minutes and 45 seconds at 100% disk activity. On this system which is running Win 10 20H2 it only ran for about a minute or so. This system is a much less powerful system but does have an SSD system drive. Microsoft appears to be content to simply ignore the problem. Perhaps this update Tuesday will bring a fix but I am not holding much faith. The next scheduled run for Waas is April 18th as it is set to run every seven days and the task can not be canceled even by an admin account.

    Yes Microsoft Windows IS malware, just not very good ;=)
