WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    My laptop just got fed KB4601554 which was released 02/24/21 even though it didn't popup with a manual search yesterday (damn rolling updates). 4601382 was installed on 02/27/21. 20H2 was installed back on 11/3/20. I don't see WaasMedic running now although the description for 4601554 doesn't seem to address any update issues. I'll keep an eye on activity and see if WaasMedic comes back.     tooney(2) - Done no remediation - only noticed issue on performance was on one occasion where there was a 'delayed action' for about 10 mins from boot, probably same as when an app updating in background - can't remember now what CPU & disc were taking but nothing like being reported by other users. Just inconvenience when checking & finding there was an error on WUD's. '"Check Now' often brings up same error. After reboot works OK and downloads an update for installation. The Flash update did work with 1st click on 'check now', that downloaded & uninstalled in a flash, (pun intended) no downloading, install now etc. notifications or reboot required to uninstall. Still have older laptop running 8.1, don' seem to have these sort of issues, read something a while back that was considered more stable than 10 - apparently that is correct.

    Yes, "bit of a tangle" describes it. Have you checked Windows files and components with system file checker (sfc /verifyonly) and DISM /scanhealth options? After experiencing slowdowns from waasmedic agent, I did but sfc and DISM reported no problems. (I only use the verifyonly and scanhealth options to have those programs check things, but not modify/repair anything.)

    Being bit of nerd, daily routine involves checking for WUD's, System Restore & Anti-Virus from AV App. Since first had issues, have had 5 WUD errors, 2 Health Tools updates and 4 Automatic Restore Points Created notated "Windows Module Installer", 3 of the latter dated same as the WUD's error occurring. Bit more than coincidence ? Looks as though perhaps MS has got itself in bit of a tangle somewhere.
