WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    The problem is while there are several thousand of us here who have discovered the WaaS issue there are 800 million devices running Windows 10. M$ doesn't care that a tiny percentage of people are complaining. They won't even notice we're gone. Sadly most users are blissfully ignorant of what M$ is doing. I've been trying to get the word out for people to check what Win 10 is doing to their systems but most people don't seem to understand. By the way I use Open Office for my spreadsheets and it should read your Excel files. Great alternative that doesn't need a subscription.

    So be it, at least they CONTROL only the Excel experience and not everything. Can open the laptop and start working and not be stuck for an hour each morning.

    I just had this on a laptop too. I gave it some time, and it fixed itself. But the hard drive is still pegged at 100% usage by many other processes, even 15 minutes after turn on. I believe it is due to massively slow hard disk access. Task Manager is showing around 200ms up to 2200ms just reading up to 2MB to 10MB. I've been seeing more and more systems come into the shop lately for "very slow" issues. Windows 10 seems to read and write a LOT of files, and slower performing spinning hard drives just can't keep up anymore.

    If anyone is experiencing slowdown issues with a spinning hard drive, then it's time to upgrade and clone your drive to an SSD. Solid State Drives will make the mega mega world of difference in your computer. Even if your hard drive is a hybrid with Optane, you'll still benefit massively by using just an SSD.
