WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Sorry to say, your living under an illusion.  I ALWAYS select to set up my computers ONLY with local account.  But since I had an MS account back in the '90s and on one laptop from the '00s I made an MS store download of a free app.  (Well, free as longas you accepted constant interruption from advertising.)  DESPITE USING LOCAL ACCOUNT ON ALL SUBSEQUENT WINDOWS INSTALLS (pay close attention when selecting your install options) within a few months I would start getting "There's a problem with your Microsoft account" notifications which I ignore.  

    So despite not informing them that several new machines with fresh Windows installs belong to someone who once had an MS account, they farmed enough data off my machines - likely by snooping though a non-MS email client - to tell I at one time used an MS account.  So the only thing I accomplished was that I can log into a local account and avoid all the linking to cortana, oneDrive etc. which I do my best to disable on every system.

    Point 2 is that the privacy settings are largely digital placebos.  MS does not honor them at all accept where they have to do with passing info to non-MS third parties.

    I have my computers set up as a local account as opposed to a Microsoft account, this apparently reduces MS doing so much spying & retrieving your personal data. Apparently MS 'discourage' Local accounts, that if you can set up as local now. This computer was set up from new a couple of years ago, my computer guru knew the back door in to do this but there was no upfront options to do this. Is this confirmation why they discourage local accounts because users may get one up on them by keeping part of our private life private?
