WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    I'm wondering businesses have identified and resolved these issues. I can't imagine any business not resolving a 45 minute login process for their team members. There have to be answers, but I agree, MicroSoft should lead the analysis and provide recommended solutions transparently to all it's users.

    Rick HB - Had this Dell desktop a couple of years now from new, did not even know WaasMedic existed till the beginning of this year as it had shown no issues. Like everyone else, problems came to light early this year when it appears everyone began to notice performance issues, this seems about the time the WaasMedic app was modified and subsequently installed during the Dec/Jan WUD's. This morning, Sunday's scheduled run, today, did not notice any problems, only by opening task manager realised it was running, started a minute or two later than normal & lasted a minute or two shorter than 'normal' Sunday. I have Office 19 retail installed, here again from day one with this desktop from new. Just in passing, have had issues with manual updating & on-line repair with Office 19, come back with errors as it appears when attempting this, does not attempt to update installed version but the 360 version. Auto updates were OK until 12-18 months ago, then error came back with , again, trying to update with 365. MS cant even get this right. I disabled updates, that has been OK since. Still have a XP available as has a couple apps that are no longer available, switched off MS updates 5-6 years ago, still keeps plodding on, cant use Internet etc but no updates - no problems. Like wise Old HP laptop running 8.1, still receiving updates but of course lacks overall performance. A while back saw various reports that 8.1 was generally more stable & reliable than Windows 10 - reports seem to be correct.

    The problem is that thees medic program is made for the faster SSD's.

    If you have your Windowsparticipation on a SSD the process is fast donn.

    But the slower HDD have the problem becaus they are slow and have a smal bandwith.

    I know that dosent help the most peoples that cant upgrade ther mashine but eaven whit a 250gb SSD that is not expensive all thees problems will vanish.
