xbox series x controller via bluetooth not recognized in games

I bought an xbox series x controller (not xbox one) from someone who had an elite and don't need the new controller. I'm sure it's authentic. I can connect it to my windows 10 pc via bluetooth and it appears as an xbox wireless controller.

However in all games it is not recognized as an xbox controller but a generic bluetooth "18 (don't remember the exact number) button controller with HAT" or something. And it doesn't work in any of my games.

Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong? It feels like either the controller is so new windows doesn't know it yet, or I'm missing a driver software, or games need to specifically support it. Anyone has similar experience? Thank you!

Edit: on 11/10/2020 MS updated its Xbox Accessories app which adds Xbox Series X/S controller bluetooth support. All you need to do is to connect the controller with a USB-C cable, open the app, go through a rather lengthy update, and now the controller connected via bluetooth is working perfectly.

    I'm sure it's a windows update issue guys, I bought the Robot Whuite controller and inmediately paired with my PC via bluetooth and worked perfect, I played Jedi Fallen Order and horizon for a couple of months since december, but on february I sold my computer and just assemble another one last weekend and surprise!!! the controller doesn't work anymore! I even have the same motherboard!! the problem is the same everibody mention here,, the controller conetcs via bluetooth, but the games doesn't recognizes!!

    Okay guys. I have found the solution (at least on my part) . Yall need to get the bluetooth adapter for the xbox controller and with this it will work out perfectly. Unfortunately the standard bluetooth adapter wont solve this issue even after u updated the firmware (for most cases that ive seen for ex: the directional moves on its own(auto scroll issue) . Well, hope this helps.

    Unfortunately no. But I was find a little hack. In some games like a SW Battlefront 2 you must start the game before a gamepad is power on. After game was run get a gamepad is power on and then it recognized by game. This is a magic!

    GUYS ATTENTION TO ALL OF YOU

    I found a solution(!!!!!!!!), BUT..

    it is through STEAM

    so all you have to do is connect your ga(y\me)pad as you would normally do through bluetooth

    AND THEN GO TO STEAM

    you have to open "Settings" menu and go to : controller\general controller settings" and enable Extended Feature Support

    sooo..
    MICROSOFT releases a ga(y\me)pad and STEAM fixes it?

    Is THAT the way things should be?

    I've been working as TechSuppSpec for more than 3 years and from my experience microsoft do all of their products THAT kind of way.

    99% of THEIR tech's answers is THE MOST OBVIOUS and NEVER SOLVING THE INITIAL PROBLEM OR EVEN REMOTELY RELATED TO IT

    You see, there is a DRIVER UPDATE
    So i don't know who is the publisher, but

    Microsoft TechSuppSpec couldn't find their OWN software to the device that THEY MADE??????

    I'm really mad at the way things going in the world with customer sevice and debugging quality like that in company LIKE MICROSOFT, which is being TOP 1 market monopolist in the world, charges really good price for the product that in some cases is malfunctioning 'from the box'.

    And yes, I'm definately THAT mad because of the fact that I spent 2 nights troubleshooting this issue on the device I bought for a good price that was malfunctioning 'from the box'..Image
