xbox series x controller via bluetooth not recognized in games

I bought an xbox series x controller (not xbox one) from someone who had an elite and don't need the new controller. I'm sure it's authentic. I can connect it to my windows 10 pc via bluetooth and it appears as an xbox wireless controller.

However in all games it is not recognized as an xbox controller but a generic bluetooth "18 (don't remember the exact number) button controller with HAT" or something. And it doesn't work in any of my games.

Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong? It feels like either the controller is so new windows doesn't know it yet, or I'm missing a driver software, or games need to specifically support it. Anyone has similar experience? Thank you!

Edit: on 11/10/2020 MS updated its Xbox Accessories app which adds Xbox Series X/S controller bluetooth support. All you need to do is to connect the controller with a USB-C cable, open the app, go through a rather lengthy update, and now the controller connected via bluetooth is working perfectly.

    I downloaded these drivers and I can't actually install them, my current drivers are 20.100.7.1 and whenever I go to update it just says I have the best drivers and won't let me install anything else.

    Run the Intel's bluetooth drivers v21.110.0.3 exe package to install automatically.

    Another way to install

    1. update driver in Device Manager on the Bluetooth device. Browse to the folder unzip  Intel's bluetooth drivers v21.110.0.3, SO it can find and install the bluetooth system info file - XXX.inf from the bluetooth unzipped folder.
    2. when the Intel's bluetooth drivers v21.110.0.3 exe is unzipped into the folder.

    Go into the folder, you have to look for the right file for the bluetooth, it will be called xxx.INF. Open the file with notepad and check the manufacturer matches the Bluetooth driver "intel" and driver no. This maybe time consuming to do.

    On the *.INF right and install, check the drivers are updated in device manager.

    While Bluetooth had something to do with it, I'm beginning to think there may be another issue with the way the controller is powered.

    With the cable the power flow is constant. I have tried with the battery of a "play and charge" kit ( more or less two years old) and the experience has been negative: lag, glitchy, unresponsive... I have also tried with an old pair of rechargeable batteries (Apple) and the experience has been better but: I had to change the sensitivity of the sticks as the general feeling was to go a little slower, maybe a bit of lag. Compared to the cable, the game was more... heavy... After a while I had to go back to the cable because it could be decisive in a gunfight... :)

    Yesterday I was playing fine with the batteries that came with the controller. But after a while I got the low battery warning and became a bit slow again. I used a tester and the voltage level was 1.45 of 1.5, so they still have quite a lot of life left.

    With that so many different sensations in different scenarios, I would say that either my controller is defective (and that may be the reason why several users report that it works well for them) or it needs a firmware update to better manage the battery charge, perhaps related to the bluetooth LE.

    Of course it's just my perception, but let's see if any other user can practice this kind of tests (with intel bluetooth driver v21.110.0.3), to request a controller replacement or wait for some kind of update from Microsoft.

    I agree, there are too many things to fault find here with controller. 

    I think i saw somewhere people complaining rechargeable batteries are not good on the xbox x controller.

    I use disposable AA in my controller.

    If it still lags then i would exchange the controller for new one to feel better.
