I bought an xbox series x controller (not xbox one) from someone who had an elite and don't need the new controller. I'm sure it's authentic. I can connect it to my windows 10 pc via bluetooth and it appears as an xbox wireless controller.
However in all games it is not recognized as an xbox controller but a generic bluetooth "18 (don't remember the exact number) button controller with HAT" or something. And it doesn't work in any of my games.
Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong? It feels like either the controller is so new windows doesn't know it yet, or I'm missing a driver software, or games need to specifically support it. Anyone has similar experience? Thank you!

Edit: on 11/10/2020 MS updated its Xbox Accessories app which adds Xbox Series X/S controller bluetooth support. All you need to do is to connect the controller with a USB-C cable, open the app, go through a rather lengthy update, and now the controller connected via bluetooth is working perfectly.

I have updated Windows 20H2 with the latest fix: KB4586853, and I keep suffering from random disconnections while I am in BT, even if I am not connected to any game (this was happening from the beginning). Apparently, the drivers have not been updated. Neither the "xbox accessories" application nor the controller firmware. Still waiting for a solution.
I also agree and suspect it is related to certain games and the games vendors to support the MS Controllers over Bluetooth.
I tried Elite dangerous does not work with the controller, only keyboard and mouse but that game has many keyboard button controls and i think the controller would not recognise the commands.
I am sure over time, somebody will hack it to work on games unless Microsoft release new OS and firmware updates first.

funny enough the issue that am having which the controller doesnt work properly in game on ghost recon wild lands and fifa19, i tried it on gta v and it worked so well, wireless, also on mafia 1 it worked without a hiccup , also the option of turning on optional updates under windows updates could have been the fix? but il have to try other games to see if the controller works wirelessly with no hiccups because i know wired it works well, keep in mind i am running windows 10 2H2 , firmware of the controller is up to date and all other bluetooth devices work well on my pc,
19 days and still waiting...
