    Easier than registry edits and no reboot needed.

    Make a text file with:

    <configuration>

      <runtime>

        <AppContextSwitchOverrides

          value="Switch.System.Net.DontEnableSystemDefaultTlsVersions=false" />

      </runtime>

    </configuration>

    Rename it to otcupdater.exe.config and put it in same folder as otcupdater.exe.

    Now try running otcupdater.exe again.

    Dear,

    Still I had problem over OTC. My device is LUMIA 640XP Dual Sim ( RM - 1067 _ 1005 ) 8.10.1514.

    I tried all the things, but not succeed.

    Earlier I reset using" Microsoft Device Recovery Tool" for factory reset and original OS and then try your solution.

    I had WIN 7 SP1 32 bit with 4 GB RAM.

    Still, will you please help me!

    These are the only instructions that worked to overcome the error:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mobiledevices/forum/all/otc-updater/b2fb7107-7e1f-4d30-b441-7313524ceed4

    One of the key pieces that many people miss: RESTART PC.

    Unfortunately even though it got rid of this error:

    "An error occurred while making the HTTP request to https://fe2.update.microsoft.com/v6/ClientWebService/client.asmx. T"

    It failed to update my phone. Even though it is on the list of compatible phones, it is an old (I used it only for travel) Nokia Lumia 635. And Microsoft does include it in the list of compatible deceives.

    But

    OtcUpdater 8.2.1.0 says:

    58e309609037794754d2c3d31d585e19: Lumia 635(RM-975_1005) 8.10.12397.895

    No updates are available for this device.  Please disconnect the device.
