My Windows 10 Version 20H2 will not install the update 0x80004005.

Short story: spent a couple of months trying to update looking for fixes. Found this thread, thought it was going to work a couple of weeks ago seem to get close, got to 99% and locked. System still under warranty, laptop with HP, tech-support ended up sending me a USB with an image with the base system. I backed up everything not that there was that much, bottom line is I have to reinstall everything software wise. It's a real pain in the posterior. It's been this way for 40 years hardware guys point at the software guys, software guys point at the hardware guys and we're all beta testers. Technology is great when it works, but it's getting pretty shaky at all levels.

Well im sad to see that this is a problem loads of people have been having with this 20H2update since it's inception. And here we are in 2021 and people are still having problems I see. I ignored it for a good while because I have tried everything under the sun beyond sacrificing my first born to the Blood God. About a week ago I get this nice little notice (I really despise your system notices btw), "You better install this or else~!". I put it on hold only to find out that this morning Windows said "F you! We're going to download and install it while you're working in the background".  It's currently "Installing" as I type this.

Now I would love to install your update Microsoft, but the **** is broken, it won't install on my 2 year old pc. And it's the same issues everyone else has posted from what I have read. It goes through the download process, installs, etc... then that first Reboot, you get Had. You get the error message about the installation failing and you're right back from where you started.

Now I have tried the Direct install route from a USB Stick. It's the same ****. I have run CMD commands. Scanned the harddrive for errors. Checked the files, etc etc etc. Nothing matters. It fails no matter what. I've gone through seeing that the bios has the drive order by another suggestion on here. Same error every time. It does not install. 

I'm at a god damn loss here.I'd threaten to go to Linux entirely, but I don't hate myself that much to deal with that. Sorry Linux boys, it's fine for simple ****. But unless I'm a rich Youtuber with a sponsored 10k pc, it's kind of trash for modern games. And that I am not a Blue Blood.

I have done almost exactly the same things you have done with the same outcome every time. Totally frustrating. I have read that even some folks that have bought brand new PC's still have the same issues. Unless Microsoft comes up with a solution and I doubt they will, I am guessing I will be running 1909 till me or my PC dies. :(

Here's a suggestion,  I forgot to mention that previous to doing the final windows 10 installation I opened device manager first and went through every entry and updated each listed driver, some updated automatically through Windows but most had best driver installed, apparently an incompatible driver can cause an installation problem with 20H2.  Maybe worth a try to update your drivers.
