My Windows 10 Version 20H2 will not install the update 0x80004005.

The update to 20h2 is an absolute nightmare.  Error codes are generated and the tech people at Microsoft have no idea what they mean.  I have tried 5 times reaching out to the tech people and the only response I get now is that they are sorry for the inconvenience.  Tired of hearing "sorry" would appreciate if the error codes would identify which 3rd party apps are causing the failure of the update to the system.  The development team at Microsoft should do something about this.  The only option I have left now is to do a clean update and then reinstall all my apps.  My other question is if a 3rd party app is corrupt, then why does my current install of windows alert me to that problem?

Out of the box, new laptop.  Have the same problem.  I debated buying a Mac or PC, thought "surely Microsoft would never ignore a defect for this long"  Boy, was I wrong.  Should have opted for the Mac.

I agree! I am also at my wits end with this. Microsoft needs to come up with a fix. I am beginning to think Apple for my next computer.

I feel you pain. We spend ~ 20% of our time using this now broken-down software; and ~ 80% of our time fixing issues created by Microsoft. I would be humiliated if I created a product and when my customers had problems, I basically could not, or would not fix them. A problem here or there that is fixed in a timely manner is understandable; but these issues are ignored and some literally go on for years. And reloading Windows is NOT a fix! It is simple a way out that costs MS nothing; but the users are expected to commit extensive time out of their lives to start all over. Also, this is usually the "fix" for issues with Office 365.

I feel that Microsoft started this User Forum so they could avoid their responsibly to fix issues in a timely manner.

1. They create the software,
2. Theyscrewup the updates,
3. Then they expect us to fix the problems they created
4. There are so many folks on here that think they know what they are doing; and most of their supposed solutions either don't work or often make things worse.
