My Windows 10 Version 20H2 will not install the update 0x80004005.

Have tried 3 times. Message on update page says it did not install and I may try again. This is not a new install. Have been using for couple of years.

    Here you can find official information about known issues about Windows versions.

    I had this same problem, then I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter inside Windows Settings, and it fixed it.

    BUT I have Conexant Audio Drivers, which are documented in the article I linked to, to have issues, since the Windows update version 2004 last year, I think that was May or October update.

    Read the article see if you may have some driver or something else mentioned there affected.

    Mi Windows Update, even though I could clean error 0x80004005, gets stuck at 61%. Every day I turn on the machine it tries to update again and again gets stuck at 61%. I left it overnight one day but didn´'t go beyond that %.

    The problem lies in the 21 machine under my control at work...they can't operate Windows, most of them, little on Ubuntu!

    wouldn't be surprised if the update software is done by a third party separate from microsoft. surely it's only common sense to test a programme is working correctly before sending it out to its users. the only problems ive had in past have been caused by these so called improved updates.

    My SoftwareDistribution file reports 16GB size, but I don't see it with Explorer. Deleting the file takes a long time and deletion hangs on 99%.

    Sorry, I should've removed the message about Update Assistant, it won't solve your problem. Please test the alternate solution and let me know what you got.
