RobertRotruck, et al: I have good news to share! I may have stumbled across the universal fix for the MSFS issues I was experiencing. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I would begin the "Mandatory Update" download session and when the data down reached about the 11% mark (out of 74.17GB), on the flood bar, the download session would abruptly reset to begin all over. Needless to say this was very frustrating. Yesterday, I downloaded the 2021-08 Cumulative Update (my system was already 21H1) which brought my build to: OS Build 19043.1237. As required, I rebooted my system, and I decided to see how another retry at downloading the FS mandatory update would turn out. Sure enough, at around the 11% point, the download balked - but this time threw up an anti-virus dialog stating it blocked FS from depositing data in the "loader folder". I gave my AV the OK to let FS download data to the loader folder; promptly disabled my AV; restarted the download all over again and left my system on overnight. When I checked this AM, the update completed successfully. So, if you think these steps have merit, I would first be sure you've downloaded the August Cumulative Update, shut off your AV temporarily, and then give a reload another try. Hope it works for for many of you.

Also, I checked the FREE content and downloaded the new World Update VI - Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 5.? GB download and it downloaded perfectly. I'm still downloading other updates, 6 in all. I'll follow-up with another post to let you know how things work after I re-enable my AV and after I've been able to fly to a few countries. Good luck to all. NealO.

Thanks for the condolences brother! It amazes me why MS doesn't containerize a massive program like this complete with its own library of dll's and system drivers, instead of creating and using dependencies on Windows OS system files. I believe this is the root cause of why the program goes through so many launch glitches. Write the program so the licensee would have to play it either on a VM or in a sandbox. MS should also include a utility that will verify that the program is corruption free and launch-ready. My money says that MS is the 800lb. gorilla in the maintenance and update efforts of the program, viz-a-viz Asobo. Also, we have to remember that there is another key developer in the mix - blackshark.ai.

It would also be nice if MS/Asobo would update most of the lame default aircraft that ships with FS. Eg.: They offer a Daher TBM-930 S/E turboprop, when in fact the 940 iteration was introduced in March, 2019! The 940 has some neat new features like autothrottle and auto deicing. I would love to see the AT actuating while I was in the groove. Auto Deicing! What more could you want. MS does not get a pass from me on this trap. It's too bad because I really enjoyed flying this sim on my downtime when it worked. FS turned out to be nothing more than a taxi one wire. Stay safe and be well.
