I have spend 2 day 17 hours trying to get this program to work.

Great to see another seafaring brethren. I couldn't quite resolve your uniform cover's insignia - Coast Guard? I see you were a Warrant Officer - not sure of the grade. I was a Naval Aviator for 8 years. Counting my trainers, I typed in 5 different AC. My primary role was reconnaissance. The best plane I ever flew was the North American Vigilante RA-5C. Like all of us, I'm aging up too. I retired from active flying 15 years ago. I too enjoy playing this sim, especially when you can complete your trip.

The abbreviation I used in my post - AV - references my anti-virus protection. I would not normally suggest to anyone they disable their computer's protection, but in this context I did that for a specific download. Here's a way to see your computer's update status: press the Windows key in the lower left corner of your keyboard - the key with the Windows symbol on it; when the Search field opens at the bottom left, type "winver" - without the quotes. When the status of your windows OS displays, make sure you have the latest version indicated: 21H1. If 21H1 is not indicated, then you have to download that update from Microsoft. Once you've established that you have 21H1 installed, follow the other directions I outlined above in my earlier post to download Flight Simulator. Good luck, Robert. Let us know how you make out.     Uninstall worked after the fresh reinstall. Thanks a million!! It is now updating 113GB of changes/updates. I hope my simulated Cessna 182 is still stowed somewhere in my computer. I have a ton of stories to share. I retired as a W3 AVELECTECH, deep select for W4 but turned it down. Get off this MS posting and email me at ******@gmail.com and we can swap stories each one starting out with "This ain't no s.....) Smiley face!! Thanks again Shipmate!!

    Hello again, Robert:

    This happens a lot with MSFS. When you try to open FS, you get redirected to Microsoft Store. Here's what you need to do: go to Settings; open the Apps category; scroll down to the MSFS icon; click on Advanced options; when the options screen appears, try the "Repair" option first. When the "Repair" cycle has finished, reboot your PC and try opening FS again. If you get redirected to MS Store again, repeat the above steps and next try the "Reset" option. As before, when this cycle finishes, reboot the PC and see if this fixes the redirect. I would suggest that if these steps fail, then you should consider to run the "Uninstall" option.. After you've uninstalled FS, you might want to "clean-up" your PC next (defrag your system drive; clean the registry ***IF YOU HAVE AUSLOGICS REGISTRY CLEANER - FREE TO USE). Once your PC is ready for a re-install of FS, open the MS Store and type "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020" in the upper-right search field and click on the search symbol. MS Store will then present all of the flavors of FS. Look for your version and it will state that it is "Owned". Click on your owned version and it will offer an Install function. Choose install and make yourself a cozy tea!!! Don't forget to shut down your AV first before you begin the fresh install. Good luck, Robert.

    (BTW - I toured on 3 different carriers; USS Enterprise|RVAH-6; USS Saratoga|RVAH-1 Sad demise to the end of "Sad Sara". Great ship! USS John F. Kennedy|RVAH-14 - the last operational Vigi squadron on a carrier. We were rotated out of NAS Sanford to NAS Albany (GA). I loved being a Vigi Skipper! This was my last tour and I retired 12 traps short of Centurion,) Earned the honor on my two previous ships.

    I did a version verification based on you previous info and I am 100% uptodate. When I try to MSFS, I get that same window to go to the Microsoft Store to get the latest MSFS update and that is the thing I cannot find on that site. I even reinstalled the Microsoft Store app just to be sure I have the latest. I have Norton security and I disabled the AV bit still got the same results when I opened MSFS. I have done everything you have outlined in your most recent feedback with same results except I don't have an AV symbol in the lower right of my screen or anywhere else????? I think I will go to Centennial Airport and try to rent an LSA just to calm my nerves. BTW, I am very familiar with the RA5C Vigilante. I was with VA-65 A6A squadron on the USS Kitty Hawk 1968-69 tour to the Gulf of Tonkiin!!

    Flying 51 years!!! Ouch. When did you start flying when you were 5? Have you thought about digitizing all of your log books? Think of all the space you'd free up in your home. Congrats on your L-19. Any thoughts about converting her to a float plane? Now that's flying. Anyway, just wanted to put the message out that my copy of MSFS is working fine, Hope yours is too.
