Great to see another seafaring brethren. I couldn't quite resolve your uniform cover's insignia - Coast Guard? I see you were a Warrant Officer - not sure of the grade. I was a Naval Aviator for 8 years. Counting my trainers, I typed in 5 different AC. My primary role was reconnaissance. The best plane I ever flew was the North American Vigilante RA-5C. Like all of us, I'm aging up too. I retired from active flying 15 years ago. I too enjoy playing this sim, especially when you can complete your trip.

The abbreviation I used in my post - AV - references my anti-virus protection. I would not normally suggest to anyone they disable their computer's protection, but in this context I did that for a specific download. Here's a way to see your computer's update status: press the Windows key in the lower left corner of your keyboard - the key with the Windows symbol on it; when the Search field opens at the bottom left, type "winver" - without the quotes. When the status of your windows OS displays, make sure you have the latest version indicated: 21H1. If 21H1 is not indicated, then you have to download that update from Microsoft. Once you've established that you have 21H1 installed, follow the other directions I outlined above in my earlier post to download Flight Simulator. Good luck, Robert. Let us know how you make out. NealO.

    Robert:

I'm sorry you're going through all these issues with FS. I would just suggest you repeat the same process I outlined earlier in this thread about going through the "Repair/Reset" cycle. If these two options don't fix the requirement to "Update", I would once again choose to uninstall FS. After it completes the uninstall- reboot your PC and when its fully booted back up - DISABLE your Anti-Virus; (remember, this is just a temporary step) - then open Microsoft Store and start your download of your owned Premium Deluxe FS. I don't know what else I can suggest to you other than try to phone up the XBOX team at Microsoft. I found them to be more responsive in the past and you get "live" support. Let me know when your FS program is running smoothly This program reminds me of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat! Maintenance required 40 man-hours of labor for every hour of flight! That's why the Navy got rid of them. Maybe Microsoft will take the hint. NealO.

    Latest!!!

Neal: I can't believe I spent so much money on the Premium Deluxe version a year ago and now I keep getting the message, "You must click here to gt to the Microsoft Store to download the latest update" and it is pure BS!! I ended up completely uninstalling the program and re-loadling and waiting for the 113GB of updates and the program worked yesterday evening late! Today, I tried to open MSFS and got the same "you must update etc." message and got no further.
