Great to see another seafaring brethren. I couldn't quite resolve your uniform cover's insignia - Coast Guard? I see you were a Warrant Officer - not sure of the grade. I was a Naval Aviator for 8 years. Counting my trainers, I typed in 5 different AC. My primary role was reconnaissance. The best plane I ever flew was the North American Vigilante RA-5C. Like all of us, I'm aging up too. I retired from active flying 15 years ago. I too enjoy playing this sim, especially when you can complete your trip.

The abbreviation I used in my post - AV - references my anti-virus protection. I would not normally suggest to anyone they disable their computer's protection, but in this context I did that for a specific download. Here's a way to see your computer's update status: press the Windows key in the lower left corner of your keyboard - the key with the Windows symbol on it; when the Search field opens at the bottom left, type "winver" - without the quotes. When the status of your windows OS displays, make sure you have the latest version indicated: 21H1. If 21H1 is not indicated, then you have to download that update from Microsoft. Once you've established that you have 21H1 installed, follow the other directions I outlined above in my earlier post to download Flight Simulator. Good luck, Robert. Let us know how you make out. NealO.

I didn't fly an RA5C Vigi but a nice Cessna 182. That's the airplane that has most of my hours!! I didn't get my private ticket until I was 58 y/o!! My youngest son got his when he went through Flight Surgeon school at NAS Pensacola and talked me into it. I sure wish I am still flying but ain't gonna happen at age 80!! That's why I'm flying a simulator! Have fun and remember, you can walk away from a crash landing! 😉😉😉

I'm really glad all of this worked out on your end. Until MSFS is distributed as a wrapped product complete with its own library of .cab and .dll files, FS users are going to continue to experience glitches in loading and playing the game. This game is enormous in its data content, and unless you have a high-end system that can sail through the data load, users will always experience hiccups as they try to play a smooth game. Curious to know what AC you flew from KAPA to FTC? It would be nice if MS/Asobo started to include more military AC in the game. Do you think you'd have some fun if you could fly a machine like this one:

I flew this afternoon from Centennial AP to Front Range AP in Colorado and made a perfect landing!! Better then I did when I was really flying back in 2007. Have fun!
