Great to see another seafaring brethren. I couldn't quite resolve your uniform cover's insignia - Coast Guard? I see you were a Warrant Officer - not sure of the grade. I was a Naval Aviator for 8 years. Counting my trainers, I typed in 5 different AC. My primary role was reconnaissance. The best plane I ever flew was the North American Vigilante RA-5C. Like all of us, I'm aging up too. I retired from active flying 15 years ago. I too enjoy playing this sim, especially when you can complete your trip.

The abbreviation I used in my post - AV - references my anti-virus protection. I would not normally suggest to anyone they disable their computer's protection, but in this context I did that for a specific download. Here's a way to see your computer's update status: press the Windows key in the lower left corner of your keyboard - the key with the Windows symbol on it; when the Search field opens at the bottom left, type "winver" - without the quotes. When the status of your windows OS displays, make sure you have the latest version indicated: 21H1. If 21H1 is not indicated, then you have to download that update from Microsoft. Once you've established that you have 21H1 installed, follow the other directions I outlined above in my earlier post to download Flight Simulator. Good luck, Robert. Let us know how you make out.     Hello Robert:

    You can't get the 21H1 feature update - nor most updates - from the Microsoft Store. The only way this type of update is available is through the Windows Update service. First, were you able to determine what version of Windows you are running on your computer by using the "winver" command I outlined above? Is it 20H2 or 21H1? If you are not updated to 21H1 then you'll be able to download it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and clicking Check for Updates. If available, you'll see Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1 listed. Click Download and install. After you complete these steps, reboot your computer and then disable your anti-virus program. You can usually do this by right-clicking the small anti-virus symbol in the system tray (where all the small symbols are in the bottom right of your screen). When you right-click on the AV symbol, look for a turn-off or disable switch on the small popup panel. This is only going to be a temporary halt to your anti-virus protection. After you've disabled your AV, open Flight Simulator and start any downloads on the Installation Manager screen. Hope this helps.

    The uniform was that of a Navy Dentist stationed with Marines and Seabees in Vietnam. I have flown 51 years and am thinking hard that it may be time to hang it up. Two of us bought and L-19 Birddog which I found looped on landing. No damage other than to my pride. It did prove I have pretty good sphincter control. It is a 1958 aircraft that has been restored. I would cry if I damaged it. I do have it on my MS2020 sim program. However I have adjusted sensitivity of controls with out getting even close to how an L-19 flies.

    Neal: Thanks for the info. I just have one minor problem, I'm 80 yo and when you put in abbreviations like AV, I don't know what that means. I do update my Dell computer on a regular basis so I'm pretty sure the Operating System is up to date. Any additional help would be appreciated. I am going to print your newest reply so I don't lose it like us old folks have a tendency to do!!!!
