H&R BLOCK 2019 BUSINESS SOFTWARE WILL NOT OPEN ANY MORE

This is Windows 10.

I had been using the 2019 H&R Block business software just fine. Last time used was July 15, 2020.

Went to open to prepare Sub-S return on Sept 12 and kept getting an error message saying it could not open. I tried having Geek Squad look at it. They spent about 2 1/2 hours running diagnostics and could not figure it out. I had another IT pro look at it for about 3 hours, ran diagnostics and the best he could figure was that it was a Microsoft update that somehow corrupted the ordering sequence for the program to open. All of my clients are locked up now. The other thing is that it also corrupted the 2018 program so I cannot access those files either.

Tried downloading a new 2019 Block program. Overwrote the old one. Still same problem. Loaded the software from the disc. Same problem.

Trying to get through to Block is a joke. You will spend hours on the phone.

Any thoughts?

    Hello,

    I need your help with 2019.

    I started following the instructions, but I cannot right click & paste on file RestoreDatabase.dat as I get a message that this file is open in Internet Explorer and I cannot paste it .  #8 of the instructions.

    Any suggestions?  

    Greatly appreciate your help.

    Thanks so much for posting this solution, it worked for me! This without a doubt saved me making a painful & long call into H&R Block support. One note though in case it helps anyone else, I had been running the H&R Block 2019 Business as an administrator. By doing that, this solution didn't work for me initially. The software when loading would lock up on step 10. After I changed the software to run without administrator rights, this solution worked fine. Thanks again.

    Your ability to restore 2018 inspired me to try again, and it worked!

    Here is what worked for me: 

    1- I used the HR setup software to uninstall 2018.

    2- Rebooted

    2- Use the Settings to check for, down load and install the latest Windows 10 updates.  The system rebooted after installation of updates.

    3- Re-installed 2018 H&R premium and H&R Business and, it worked!!!

    I has also installed the software to my daughter's and wife's laptops and it worked there too, bud did not want to have to wait for hiere downtime for me to use their computer.

    Note - all other version of H&R work for me,.  Best of luck restoring 2019

    I cannot get past #10. When I click Help, Customer Support - I don't see Restore Database.  

    I see Online Customer Support and Refresh App Configurations.

    Anyone else is having problem finding Restore Database in H&R Block 2019?
