H&R BLOCK 2019 BUSINESS SOFTWARE WILL NOT OPEN ANY MORE

This is Windows 10.

I had been using the 2019 H&R Block business software just fine. Last time used was July 15, 2020.

Went to open to prepare Sub-S return on Sept 12 and kept getting an error message saying it could not open. I tried having Geek Squad look at it. They spent about 2 1/2 hours running diagnostics and could not figure it out. I had another IT pro look at it for about 3 hours, ran diagnostics and the best he could figure was that it was a Microsoft update that somehow corrupted the ordering sequence for the program to open. All of my clients are locked up now. The other thing is that it also corrupted the 2018 program so I cannot access those files either.

Tried downloading a new 2019 Block program. Overwrote the old one. Still same problem. Loaded the software from the disc. Same problem.

Trying to get through to Block is a joke. You will spend hours on the phone.

Any thoughts?

    Again, step 9 says "open H&R Block Business". That is the issue, H&R Block Business will not open after some Windows 10 update. Too much trouble to fool with this software anymore.

    For me my business 2019 would not open due to a fatal error and when i purchased 2020 it installed and opened but would not import stating the previous year tax return is open and in use.

    I was able to get 2019 business working and able to successfully import the 2019 business returns to 2020 tax software.

    I located the "datastore" which is located c:\programdata\H&R Block Business\H&R Block Business 2019\ I renamed this to datastore.old , and opened the H&R Block business 2019 program and now it opened. I was able to restore my 2019 business tax return. I closed H&R Block 2019 business and opened the 2020 business and was able to import my 2019 business return successfully.

    The funny part to this all, I was on hold with H&R Block for 30 minutes. Once the above started working is when they picked up. Nice guy but I didn't need there support after all.

    Ok, thanks, this worked for me. After opening 2019 I did an update, then restored my 2019 return from an export file that I had saved.

    I'm still having trouble getting HRB BUSINESS software to open. I've tried the restoredatabase fix many times, but it still won't open. I just get the H&R logo, but the software never completes loading. Every time Windows updates, this happens. There's no way to access the menus if the software won't open. I can't reach anyone at H&R to help me.
