H&R BLOCK 2019 BUSINESS SOFTWARE WILL NOT OPEN ANY MORE

This is Windows 10.

I had been using the 2019 H&R Block business software just fine. Last time used was July 15, 2020.

Went to open to prepare Sub-S return on Sept 12 and kept getting an error message saying it could not open. I tried having Geek Squad look at it. They spent about 2 1/2 hours running diagnostics and could not figure it out. I had another IT pro look at it for about 3 hours, ran diagnostics and the best he could figure was that it was a Microsoft update that somehow corrupted the ordering sequence for the program to open. All of my clients are locked up now. The other thing is that it also corrupted the 2018 program so I cannot access those files either.

Tried downloading a new 2019 Block program. Overwrote the old one. Still same problem. Loaded the software from the disc. Same problem.

Trying to get through to Block is a joke. You will spend hours on the phone.

Any thoughts?

The answers are in the CCH website.  Here is the link to fix 2019 and 2020.

There is a solution for 2018 in case you want it but I can't seem to locate it.  I'm sure it can be found in the CCH site.

CCH is a major tax software developer for business use and they developed the business portion for HR Block.

The instructions worked like a charm, but you need to follow them PRECISELY.

Apparently, 2018, 2019, and 2020 were all written in a way that requires tinkering to get going.  Hopefully they will solve the problem for 2021.

My 2020 software is working but won't import my old return.  Does anyone have a trick to get that to work?  I had the same problem last year but was able to install the software on another machine then recover the file off the same and then used that data set to import.  That same trick isnt working.

(I get the rollover access error - Unable to access prior-year return information because it is currently in use.  Please close the prior year application and try the import process again.) I cant install the 2019 on any computer now.

I had uninstalled the 2019 program (because it didnt work anyways).   I had a copy in another location but nothing will work.

I have both the C:\ProgramData\H&R Block Business\H&R Block Business 2019 file copied before the install

    I also have .atx19Export file.
