Windows update is stuck at 61%

I am having similar problem. In my case, the update stops at 71%. I contacted Microsoft Support and they did try to use different options (Using Media Creation Tool as well as Windows.iso) but the updates failed. For the last few days, I am getting automatic updates and the same errors occurs. It is very frustrating and I have wasted so many hours during the last few months. I have decided to stop the automatic updates. I tried to stop the automatic updates from Services but that did not work even though update was disabled. I am not sure if this would work.

I hope that it does. The windows version on my pc is 1909.

I am trying to update windows to version 20H2, however, the installation it's stuck at 61%.

What I tried:

1) I tried running this in administrator command prompt:

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

2) I tried updating windows in safe mode,

**3)**I tried disabling every non Microsoft service in msconfig

**4)**I tried updating using the windows 10 update assistant

Does anyone know how to fix it?

For this issue I used an ISO image which I downloaded at...(https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO) and performed a desktop upgrade install of the windows. With internet connection I was able to fully upgrade without any stall at 61% or so...

Hope that can be helpful to anyone still facing this glitch.

How long?

Before starting windows update check audio drivers is up-to-date, in my case the culprit is Conexant audio driver after updating it to the latest version form the HP's office site the windows update happened normally.

note: mine is HP Zbook 17 G3 and version of OS installed during the update is windows 1809.
