Windows update is stuck at 61%

Hello,

I am trying to update windows to version 20H2, however, the installation it's stuck at 61%.

What I tried:

1) I tried running this in administrator command prompt:

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc

net stop bits

net stop msiserver

ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

net start wuauserv

net start cryptSvc

net start bits

net start msiserver

2) I tried updating windows in safe mode,

**3)**I tried disabling every non Microsoft service in msconfig

**4)**I tried updating using the windows 10 update assistant

Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Here is a CURE of this disease---- Real issue is outdated CONEXANT audio driver, check your pc if you have installed it, uninstall it mostly installed with Sennheiser headphone software

    If you use Sennheiser headphones then uninstall its driver software and then restart and open update and wait it will install everything, make sure you have not connected any other device except wired mouse, keyboard and monitor. I AM SURE REMOVING SENNHEISER DRIVERS WILL HELP 100%. After update you can reinstall those drivers. Hope I helped you. If you don't use sennheiser then unistall any headphone or external audio driver and only hit and try will help. It's just driver issue. Thank me later

    Thank you I have been cured. I did have to uninstall the driver and delete the driver files from the system32 folder I also stopped Conexant in services just for good measure. I didn't have to reinstall the drivers they reinstalled automatically. I would like to know how you knew the Conexant driver was the issue, if you would be so kind to share that information?

    Updates from version 2004 to 20H2 usually can be faster because both of them share the same core.

    If from version before 2004, it usually be longer.

    The real question is why is Microsoft sending out untested operating system updates and why doesn't the update show more detail on the failure. I am waiting for Microsoft to produce a fully working update. Thanks for your time.

    Agreed ... my laptop update has been stuck at 61% for over 18 hours now. This is my second try as after the first one I rebooted after 6 hours. I am patient and want to see if it's just the complexity vs. what was on the laptop. So I'll keep on waiting as this is not my main computer.

    One of the frustrating parts is what you mentioned: There is zero feedback. All I see is "Status: Installing - 61%". If the system is stalled or can't continue, the OS should tell us that.

    It's like when there is an issue during shutdown and the OS says that "this app" ??? "is preventing shutdown". What app? Useless info, which I often see.
