Random Freeze and Unresponsiveness [Windows 10 20H2]

I recently updated to Windows 10 20H2 from 2004. Since then I have been experiencing random freezes, lock-ups, and unresponsiveness. I could be watching a video and the video would pause, the touchpad won't respond, touch won't work, and the power key won't sign me off. The only option I am left with is to press and hold the power button to force-restart the laptop.

I am using Lenovo 920 with i7 8th gen 512 SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

Please, send help.

had this problem with my laptop and fixed before the new version was released and auto updated on my laptop.  Problem was with touchscreen and win 10.  Found a youtube video that seemed to fix problem but cannot find since.  If I find I will give 411.

Update: I tried each of the given solutions none of them worked.

After a couple of days of the update and constant force resrarting upon freeze the Laptop stopped booting. Thr backlit keyboard would lit but nothing on the screen and then it would turn off. Couldn't get it to boot. Took it to a Lenovo Service centre. They said the motherboard IC is at fault and would require a change. It costed me hefty Rs. 9000 which is around $150.

I was even asked to reset the system which I did. The laptop worked fine for exactly ONE week and then same problem. Took it back to the service centre and they kept the laptop for 3-4 days. They ran their tests. Installed 1802 version of Windows 10. Still the issue persists. Even they don't know what the issue is.

So at this point I have a dead $1700 laptop a $150 service centre bill.

Additional info: I bought this laptop from Best Buy, FL, US and currently I am in India. Lenovo doesn't have service centre to call their OWN, they have outsourced them to local firms and provide authorised ones on their website.

I bought my Lenovo from Best Buy as well in California.  The freezing issues started almost immediately after purchasing this piece of junk.  I never would have thought after spending over a thousand dollars there would be issues as this  I tried returning the lap top for exchange or refund however the manager would not and I had my receipt!! This is totally unacceptable as I use this for income.   Did u ever find a fix?

After many hours trying to resolve this issue the laptop eventually stopped booting completely, a similar experience to many others.

The laptop is now a brick and is unusable.

As I work in IT, I need a laptop to earn money so I had to purchase a replacement.

2 changes I have made that have helped but I don't know how they will work with your laptop.

    1.  My laptop has a touch screen interface.  I used Device Manager> Mice and other pointing devices > usb touchscreen controller and Disabled it.  This helped a lot after I rebooted my laptop.  Problem came back after Win 10 updates but determined Win 10 was re-enabling the device.

    2.  Problem also happened after using disk encryption software (VeraCrypt) to create/use a hidden encrypted drive.  From what I can tell, the encryption software and windows 10 are having a problem with pagefile sizes but nobody has come up with a fix yet.  I now only load the encryption software when I need it and quit after I done.

    I hope this helps.

I have a similar problem with a brand new Dell Inspiron 15-3505 out of the box!

    Edition    Windows 10 Home
    Version    20H2
    Installed on    ‎5/‎4/‎2021
    OS build    19042.964
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0

One "factory reset" fresh start and recovery within the first week.  Tried all the recovery options I could find posted here and elsewhere.  "NO JOY"  Nothing worked.  Discovered a work around that works for me.  ALT CTRL DELETE followed immediately by opening the Task Manager (click twice).  Miraculously, it unfreezes user input (until the next time).  Frustrating but necessary until I can install a new hard drive on my WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL machine.  I made the terrible mistake of believing Microsoft had worked the bugs out of WINDOWS 10.
