Random Freeze and Unresponsiveness [Windows 10 20H2]

I recently updated to Windows 10 20H2 from 2004. Since then I have been experiencing random freezes, lock-ups, and unresponsiveness. I could be watching a video and the video would pause, the touchpad won't respond, touch won't work, and the power key won't sign me off. The only option I am left with is to press and hold the power button to force-restart the laptop. 

I am using Lenovo 920 with i7 8th gen 512 SSD and 16 GB of RAM.

Please, send help.

    That's as bad as it gets! My clean reinstall is still running well with no freezes, and I've just about finished reinstalling all apps. So far, so good (4 days no crashes).

    I have managed to last a whole 24hrs with no freeze for the first time in a week! As well as the SSD change, I did several more changes, suggested by forums. But I can't say which one fixed it.

    1 turned off Link State power management under PCI Express section of same advanced power options

    2 switched virtual memory from auto to manual, upper limit 8192Mb (recommended is 1.5x RAM size, which would have been 12288 for me)

    3 used Driver Talent to check for outdated drivers. It showed WIFI adapter and audio chip needing update. Ignored demand for money and went to Intel and Realtek for latest drivers. Only audio was updated.

    This is so bad I can not even get past a Black screen now, and as far as updating drivers it will not let me when I tried it froze on everyone and there is 7 or so according to windows

    Normally only the copy of Windows installed in C:\windows\ will be active. If you can't even boot from a USB stick that implies a hardware failure. Did you see the boot messages from your hardware as it started? I downloaded Windows 10 installation media to a fresh 32GB USB stick and that booted (slowly). I first had to go into the BIOS settings and move the USB boot to the top of the boot order.

    I have tried that but now it only goes right into a black screen and I can not go anywhere from there.
