I would suggest you hold on updating by downloading the Microsoft tool "Windows Update Show/Hide Updates". In mean time, I suggest you visit the Optimize Drives(disk defrag) tool on your system and set it to weekly on all drives/partitions except for the zone where your OS is installed, there disable defragmenting(in my case, the fragmentation always stays in the 10% range, so there really is no need for it). That's the solution for the freezes/hangs I'm currently focusing on and hopping it works. This is not a fix, just a possible workaround to see if the defrag tool is the culprit that freezes your system. If it is, then you need to go to Event Viewer to where the process fails. Note that the process fails if there is a file or zone on the drive or partition that is damaged.
Another possible and probably a stupid fix should be here edge://flags/, you get there by going to Setting in your Edge browser and typing the rest. Then search for Delay Competing Low Priority Requests flag and disable it.
