Windows 10 Feature update (to 2004) Conexant driver Issue

It's been close to 5 months Win 10 version 2004 has been made available to the end-users.

Initially, there's been a lot of "Bugs and Issues" with the initial release. Most of them have been resolved by various updates. But there's one particular issue regarding Conexant Drivers that I believe is barring a lot of users to upgrade to the newest version 2004.

I myself is a victim of such a situation. I myself have been seeing the same old message "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it’s ready for your device, you’ll see the update available on this page."

I don't know what is Microsoft doing regarding this issue lately. but it has been quite a while and the issue hasn't been fixed yet. A lot of other issues have been resolved but this particular issue hasn't been fixed.

I think Microsoft has been neglecting this issue for far too long, and I feel abandoned as an end-use. 

Is there any chance that the ones like me can upgrade to "Version 2004" before the Win 10 October 2020 release?

    well, I have  spectre360 and same issue with update. almost kicked it out of the window.

    In the end I simply removed the conexant audio via device manager and ran the manual update 2H20. Worked out. There is no risk as device will re-install after restart.  no problem and risk.

    I have recently received a second hand Dell Inspiron 5558, which is a 5 year old model, for ~$250 for a relative

    I ran updates over a few days and hey presto 20H2 installs!

    My own HP x360 ENVY is a bit over 3 years old, was >$1,000 new and still hasn't even updated to 2004!

    I don't particularly want to go messing around with removing drivers + random internet registry hacks to risk breaking it.

    HP make their devices with the cheapest software they can hobble it with and then effectively abandon them as soon as they're off a shop's shelf.

    MS couldn't really care less as attempting to work this stuff out for a third party hardware vendor with a fourth party device manufacturer from 3+ years ago is hardly worth while for them (one of the downsides of a CI/CD OS, at some point you have to assume everyone has a deployment environment that supports what you're delivering as latest and greatest).

    End result?

    All three companies have already made their money, so the customer gets shafted.

    "Go buy another $1,000+ pile of plastic and exotic metals you cheap hippy"

    Simply put: No, you won't face any issue after the upgrade due to the Conexant drivers, as I have not faced any issue so far.

    What computer did you do this on? (make and model please)

    Is it possible you got lucky, it was fixed for your device, and you just forced the update before your manufacturer had a chance to provide the new drivers (or maybe they were available but you didn't know to check)?

    I  simply went to device manager and used  "UNINSTALL device"  for the Conexant SmartAudio.

    1. I manually  started the Windows 10 2H20 update  assistant

    2 ) windows 10  download  started, installed "something", followed by restart.  Still my "old" Windows 1909  

    3)  system restart  did  re-install Conexant Smart   

    4)  I did another UNINSTALL device

    5)  started new Windows 10 update assistant  and new download started 

    1. latest windows 20H20  (October 2021)  installed 
    2. Conexant device working and no issues so far
