Unable to install despite repeated attempts the security update
October 13, 2020—KB4579311 (OS Build 19041.572).
X 64 Home
Failed to install on 05/11/2020 - 0x800f0988
Pls advise how to install this security update.
Totally agree. I had to disable Norton and Chrome. The only way of doing some work, after 40 days of freezes, low productivity and stress.
I have no IT knowledge to attempt other fixes. Now, you need to be a NASA scientist to run a Word doc.
Why can MS dump updates on us forcing us to use edge and their virus software?
because they got 95% of the OS market (apple doesn’t count because it competes in whole computers, not OS).
A monopoly and powerful corporation that nobody dares to challenge, because of “loss of jobs” and stock market price. In the meantime, “small” people have to lose a month worth work and there are no consequences. Every time EU wants to regulate these monsters, the US via the corp lobbies and corrupted polititians (guess) fight back.
That update is installed in my laptop EVERY single day. Not sure if it is properly installed, it just installs itself each day, without me doing anything.
Note to self!
OK, I have narrowed it down. This occurs when the mouse (Logitech G604) is connected via Bluetooth.
I remove the Bluetooth device and plugged in the Logi G604 USB dongle. Reboot the computer and this problem no longer exists. Going back to Bluetooth, and rebooting the computer, the problem comes back.
Why is that so Microsoft?
