I got a similar issue. Desktop is black after logon and taskbar flashes, its continiously restarting explorer.exe
This update has messed up my computer monitor. I use this monitor for work & luckily I turned my computer on 30 minutes early, working from home. It reset my monitor to its basic 640x280. It doesn't connect anymore to my laptop. My monitor was a 23 inch monitor connected to my laptop for work via HDMI. The update does not recognise anything connected to my laptop so using external monitors is not possible due to this terrible update which was not tested properly. I checked the monitor via Xbox and this is where is only works but its zoom in & been squashed so its stretched to not its correct resolutions. Thanks so much for the stressful morning I am having!
*Edit - I turned off my laptop last night & let it shut down and update and the next time I turned it on, the above happened. So its not hard to put 2 & 2 together to understand what exactly messed my monitor/laptop up. So what you guys need to do is get a laptop with the windows update pre-october 13th & connect to a monitor via hdmi & shut it down & update and fix this. Takes no time, big company like yours should be making steps to test this properly.
Update is failing repeatedly - both from Windows Update in "Settings" and from the downloaded msu file from "Microsoft Update Catalog".
