Cumulative updates - October 2020

Update is failing repeatedly - both from Windows Update in "Settings" and from the downloaded msu file from "Microsoft Update Catalog".

• Microsoft version and build: Windows 10, version: 2004, build: 19041.508
• Home or Pro: Pro
• 32 bit or 64 bit: 64 bit, x64-based processor
• Patch you are installing: KB4579311 [2020-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems]
• Reported error messages: Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d) [this is the latest error code. there were different codes during previous update attempts]
• This update through Windows Update in Settings have been failing repeatedly since its release.
• I also downloaded the following file (the same update as above) from Microsoft Update Catalog, but that failed to install too: windows10.0-kb4579311-x64_9cc8221b0ed1bc799278d029c4edadf785920da9.msu
• Please help.

Nobody replied to my original post, but after skimming over the subsequent dozens and dozens of posts/discussion, it looks like I am LUCKY that I cannot install Upadate **KB4579311 !!!!**Ha ha ha...

+1. Many times some confusion arises because of what type of the update installed - there is a difference between a major feature update and cumulative updates(which is what the discussion is for).

Being a Windows customer that paid (and still pays) for Windows license, that is a Windows and Office Insider (and that paid for an Office 365 family subscription), I expected that, If I would need help, someone would help!

I could not be more mistaken. Microsoft's Customer Support does not exist. And after endless bots, chats, phone calls, reports, etc. I am thinking of switching to either iOS or other software where I can proper have support.

Unfortunately, none of these worked for me. They all recommend some version of doing the /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions command, but this command is what is showing the Error 2 code for me.

In short, I cannot update Windows because of error code 0x800f081f.

To solve this error code, the most commonly recommended option is to use DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth - but putting that command into command prompt gives me error code 582.

The most commonly recommended option to solve error 582 is to use DISM.exe /Image:C: /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions, which gives me error 2. To solve error 2, the most common solutions are to disable my antivirus (I use no antivirus besides Windows Defender, which I disabled and it made no difference), to make sure I have the latest DISM version (I do), or to use the command DISM.exe /Image:C: /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions - but this is precisely the command which is generating the error 2 in the first place! I am truly stumped.
