This is a summary of the cumulative updates released on October 13th for all the supported consumer releases of Windows 10.

  1. Windows 10 version 2004 - KB4579311 Build 19041.572
  2. Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909 - KB4574727, Build 18362.1139 and 18363.1139
  3. Windows 10 versions 1809 - KB4570333, Build 17763.1518

IMPORTANT Windows 10, version 1809, will reach end of service on November 10, 2020 for devices running Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstation, and IoT Core editions. These devices will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.

    I cant even get by the Lenovo screen. It just stops. No disk activity at all.

    i hate these updates.

    I have a case open with Microsoft.

    I dont know what else to do.

    How are you communicating here? On your phone? 

    I tried searching for an answer but you did not give too much information as regards to what desktop model you are using. 

    I don't have a Lenovo, so I'm not at all familiar with that brand.

    Unless or Until someone here can help you... have you tried the Lenovo community forums? (Another forum to sign up for!)

    Perhaps someone there could help you!  I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on Microsoft to get back to you.

    Yes, I chose 'update' instead of 'create installation media'.

    Now, in the Windows Update History, there is NO KB4579311:

    But, in Control Panel -> Application List, there is KB4579311

    I hope this is a normal and healthy situation and I can continue to update my windows in the future. If so, I hope other people having similar problems can use this method - Although it took a longer time to reinstall my Windows, it is easy and powerful to fix issues. And, my Windows seems to work well so far, nothing is missing.

    I had Updates Paused and it still installed something. Next time this happens I'm going to drive to the Redmond office and beat the F out of the first 3 nerds I see! Got it MF's?

    Update is failing repeatedly - both from Windows Update in "Settings" and from the downloaded msu file from "Microsoft Update Catalog".

    • Microsoft version and build: Windows 10, version: 2004, build: 19041.508
    • Home or Pro: Pro
    • 32 bit or 64 bit: 64 bit, x64-based processor
    • Patch you are installing: KB4579311 [2020-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems]
    • Reported error messages: Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d) [this is the latest error code. there were different codes during previous update attempts]
    • This update through Windows Update in Settings have been failing repeatedly since its release.
    • I also downloaded the following file (the same update as above) from Microsoft Update Catalog, but that failed to install too: windows10.0-kb4579311-x64_9cc8221b0ed1bc799278d029c4edadf785920da9.msu
    • Please help.

    Nobody replied to my original post, but after skimming over the subsequent dozens and dozens of posts/discussion, it looks like I am LUCKY that I cannot install Upadate **KB4579311 !!!!**Ha ha ha...
