Cumulative updates - October 2020

I have Windows 10. And have been receiving messages that my Updates are not able to be loaded due to lack of space. However, I have used the scoresense and requested to delete all unnecessary files, etc. But receive a message that says "couldn't delete anymore space"?? How do I fix this to get my updates?

First, what win 10 version do you have? (click win key + R. Then type "winver" and return and you get the version)

How big is your C drive? Total capacity and how much free space left?

Win 10 doesnt "need" more then 20GB, but the system drive should never have less then 10% of its storage free. For swapping, updates and many things that will slow your system if it lacks free space. 

There are lots of things you can do to get more space on your C (system) drive. Remove programs etc.

Win 10 is getting better and better at updating even when people only buy laptops with like 50-100GB disks. The lightweight has been the reason. But these laptops costs tons. 

However, with the M.2 SSD technology, you now get 1TB GIGANTLY fast SSD drive for 150 USD/100 Euros.

M.2 SSD disks are as small as a ram and dont get hot at all. You need a motherboard that support it though.

You can also use One-drive to get more space from C by using the feature "fetch my files when I need them".

So basically to run a laptop and a word document (no gaming, no complex design, etc) you need now to be a rocket scientist. The solutions that are provided (as fudges and guesses) can only be understood and attempted, without risk, by experts. The rest of people, who work from home, have no IT support and have not studied computer masters, are left with ruined laptops, which affect their source of income. 

And there is nothing we can do. Unbelievable.

May I know if you have looked for the Windows Services, by going to the Services Tab:

Press Windows Key + R > Run Box opens > Type: services.msc

Please check for this services, Background Intelligence Transfer services (BITs), Windows Update.

This 2 Services are actually responsible for the Windows Update.

Please let us know if you are able to locate them and please Let us know about.

This isn't Rocket Science People!!!!   --****It's by far harder and way worse!

This thread should be called mrdbeta's One Man Show as he has given SO MUCH of his own time-- continually and generously-- trying to help every single person who posts here.  He admits to losing sleep while searching for answers for everyone and trying to get his own windows working properly! 

At the very least, I believe we owe him a debt of gratitude for all the help he has given us.  Your efforts are not lost on me mrdbeta!  Appreciate you and your advice more than you know.  You have helped me in the past!  Thank You!

I am TRULY SICKENE D by all the problems I'm reading in this thread and previous ones!! I had MANY PROBLEMS after the initial cumulative update but since I rolled back to an earlier version, the few problems that still exist are much less wicked and I'm able to use my machine at least. Wish I could say the same for y'all.  I have not dared tried to update ANYTHING and so far nothing has been FORCED on me. I've been able to delay updates- (Home Edition) - but for how long is the question! 

While MUCH of this is way over my computer-illiterate head, I can see that it takes jumping through many hoops to try to fix what Microsh*t has broken!!!  Heads should be rolling somewhere!!!  I've put in problems/questions via the feedback "hub" with no response.  How many hundreds of thousands of people have been affected?  It's not just the ones that post here!!  Many people assume their computer is broken, when in fact, it's the bleeping MS updates!!  People's computers have turned into expensive paper weights!  End of Rant.
