Display driver amdkmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I have windows 10 pro and once I updated to 20h2, it all went down hill.

Games kept acting up, so I tried a driver install. Now I am stuck running my 5700xt

with Event Device not started (amdkmdap). I am stuck on 20h2. I have to find a fix.

This is exactly where I am now. Been going around in circles with this since I upgraded in April.

Ryzen 7 3800x, Red Devil 5700xt, 16GB Corsair LPX Ram

Crashes is the majority of titles I play. Mainly DX12 titles.

1. DDU and installed countless 2020 Adrenalin Drivers. All have the same effect, some worse than others.
2. Bought new case + fans to create an improved airflow
3. Upgraded Windows to most recent through this time period.
4. Fresh installs of Windows along the way.
5. Underclocking, overclocking GPU and VRAM, disabling, enabling XPM.
6. Setting custom fans curves
7. Setting different Pagefiles
8. RMA'd my GPU but it came back fine.
9. Stress tested CPU, Memory and GPU.

All lead to the same place, constant crashes in game. I'm on the verge of buying a new PSU althogh I'm sure my 850w can most definately support the system.

ESENT Errors all the time complaining about databse format. Use to be about Video.UI but since my last windows refresh its been about svchost  and some other Catalog Database.

Dont bother buying a new psu, already been down that road. It does seem like it could be a power problem causing the GPU to disconnect, but, at least in my experience, I had the exact same problem with a new beastly psu. It did not fix it or change anything.

I have similar issues in my new build.

Switched PSU (so don't change yours), motherboard, RAM, cash and a new NVME SSD, only thing left is my CPU (Ryzen 7 2700sx) and Radeon RX 580.

I opened a RMA for my RX 580 since the driver was always crashing in Overwatch and Fortnite, but when I switched to my old R9 280X, same issue.

And the latter ran fine in my other computer.

I also reinstalled Windows, DDU, tried older drivers, stressed test my RAM, underclocked and overclocked my GPU, it's all random; sometimes I can game for 2 hours straight, others I crash in the menus, or after 2-3 minutes.

Tried graphics at Low, even if I used to run them on High/Ultra back in my old build.

What scares me is that I was about to purchase an RX 6800 XT or RTX 3080, and I don't know if the problems will persist...

Question for everyone around here:

What monitor(s) are you using?

What size, resolution, refresh rate, connection.

I have a Dell S3220DGF (32", 1440p, 165hz, connected via Display port)

and a LG 34WK650-W (34" 2560 x 1080 Ultra wide, 75hz, connected via HDMI because my RX 580 was having problems with 2 Display port monitors back on my older system)

I have both at 60hz at the moment, but it doesn't change a thing.

Complement: Both have Freesync, tried having both On, both Off, 1 on the other off, still crashes.

I've also tried on a single monitor (the LG) using DisplayPort, then HDMI, it still crashes.

I will reinstall my RX 580 and cancel the RMA, but this needs a fix. I don't know if I must blame Windows, AMD or my MSI motherboard, but I'm out of idea to fix the problem.

I don't know if it's directly linked to the crash, or if it's a result of, but I believe every information could help at this point.
