True; if the AMD chipset indeed is at fault for crashes linked to quantity and/or type and/or positioning of USB devices plugged in, we must contact them.

However, at this point, I would like a Microsoft employee/moderator weighing in here.

People have been guessing, testing, and reporting issues here since October, and in the past weeks we've been posting multiple messages a day with new findings and maybe even a cause for the issue, and yet we haven't had any official feedback from Microsoft.

At least if someone more knowledgeable than us (well, more than me at least) could point us to a ressource to contact, or even take the problem in charge...

And to anyone new here, or any Microsoft employee reading: What we know so far:

Games crash out of nowhere. Sometimes in the menus, sometimes while playing; it's not linked to action.

*EDIT* 2 others are having crashes in "Teams", usually when sharing documents.

It's not linked to overclocking nor heat.

Most of us get a black screen, with audio still on, then a crash to desktop.

Error is whether "Display driver amdkmdag stopped responding and has successfully recovered." or "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

Sometimes crashes are worst and we have a complete freeze and/or GPU driver timeout and we have to reboot.

So it's not linked to GPU brand: BOTH NVIDIA AND AMD ARE CRASHING!

Fresh drivers installs (DDU) and even clean Windows installation won't fix the problem.

I also believe most, if not all of us are on Ryzen CPUs with AMD chipset.

After testing, some of us found that it COULD be linked to USB devices. I haven't experienced any crashes with only keyboard/mouse/headset plugged in, but once I've added 1-2 more, crashes are back.

Port location needs more testing, at the moment I have added another USB device in a rear port and, after crashing, I moved my headset to the front panel USB, no crash after 2 hours of gaming. I'll test more tonight.

An official input would be very much welcome.

Your problem doesn't manifest as most of us; I believe the majority here gets a black screen, with audio still active (I can even still chat with teammates in Overwatch until I click the game's crash window's button).

It really sucks that your new computer suffers such problem. Welcome to the family I guess.

Hopefully, us all together we might be able to find the source of the issue, and eventually a fix.

In your Event Log, is there another error, warning or critical problem around the time you crash happens besides amdkmdag?

Also update for everyone: Besides my first crash the day after the format that was likely linked to my headset, I haven't had any black screen, artefact or other shenanigans so far.

Today I played 3 times: 2 hours, 30 minutes and an hour, all smooth sailing.

My USB HDD is still unplugged, same for keyboard's usb hub and rgb mousepad.

And I still haven't reinstalled Steam and Epic Game Launcher.

Tomorrow I will connect my backup hdd and test stability for a couple of days, hopefully it will hold.

I tried this driver install method once, but it didn't resolve anything for me. Fingers crossed for you.

I formatted yesterday, with limited reinstallation and peripherals connected.

So far I've ganed 3 times and no crash.

Still unplugged: Seagate backup drive, Razer keyboard's USB hub (keyboard plugged in) and Razer mousepad.

As for uninstalled software, well, a lot, at the moment drivers are up to date, I have AMD software, Razer synapse, Blizzard launcher and discord.

I'll add stuff from time to time to see if anything triggers a crash and keep the post updated
