Windows 10 error 0xc1900101 and error 0xc1900101-0x20017 Repeatedly

Have tried so many resets I am surprised the hard drive is no knackered. Clean boots, disabling drivers, changing system configuration to hide all microsoft services and disabling non microsoft all fail with the same error.

I have tried all the things you are told to do by microsoft in their pages and still get the same error. Lenovo wipe their feet and say its beyond their support when asked. Nothing I have been told by any representative here has worked. The only thing I have yet to try is a clean install of windows 10!

The computer is as follows:

Lenovo Ideacentre 310s-08asr amd a9-9245 radeon r5 compute cores 2c+3G

8Gb Memory

860Gb free on hard drive

Razer Chroma keyboard

Windows Defender used no 3rd party

Have been told it is the mcafee boot protection but mcafee has been removed after every windows reinstallation, the mcafee removal tool three times.

The previous update via media creation too i tried update and that failed but gave no error code.

This time i tried the iso file and update and yet again it failed but this time i get error 0xc1900101-0x20017

When i use windows update i just get error 0xc1900101 and nothing else.

In the past i have disabled all non microsoft services and i have also disabled display adapters; Printers, sound, video and game controllers and did a restart and that failed also.

I have tried everything the advisers have said and that failed everytime.

Dear Graham,The new laptops (notebooks) or desktops (desktop switches), with Intel 64-bit (X64) chipstet, come with a new boot system called UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface). It is a faster and safer way to boot the Operating System that prevents third parties from installing a new version of Windows or from accidentally formatting the partition where Windows is installed.

in primary boot, leave it in the same order:

USB with media

HD

Always leave the item from where it will be installed first and right after the HD, the rest does not matter.

And try switching to legacy again, if the error appears again, please report the error in detail to facilitate assistance.

The BIOS on this computer in startup is set as:

CSM - Disabled

Boot Mode - UEFI Only

If I were to change the CDM to Enabled, then the settings are:

CSM - Enabled

Boot Mode becomes AUTO

(options are Auto, UEFI Only or Legacy Only)

Boot Priority becomes LEGACY FIRST

(options are UEFI First or Legacy First)

Those are the settings and options should the CSM be set to enabled.

Dear Graham,leave boot mode enabled and boot prioriry for Legacy first and CSM enabled.

And do the boot test with the flash drive.

So you want me to set

CSM to Enabled

Boot Mode to Auto

Boot Priority to Legacy First

As this is what you get when CSM is enabled. The last time I set boot mode to legacy only I had to reboot into BIOS and reverse that back to UEFI only as the computer would not boot as it failed to find an o/s

Dear Graham, if you can, leave the boot mode to Legacy Only, if you don't have this option, try Automatico, then it looks like this:

CSM to Enabled

Boot Mode to Legacy only (Or Auto if you don't have the option of Legacy only here)

Boot Priority para Legacy First

Try the boot from the flash drive again, see you soon!
