Windows 10 error 0xc1900101 and error 0xc1900101-0x20017 Repeatedly

Dear Graham,I understand that you performed the informed procedures and still did not solve the problem, in which case I recommend the repair with a media before you try to perform a clean installation, follow the steps below:

I believe you already have a DVD or Pendrive with Windows 10, I will list other steps that may help you. Even if I have a DVD or Pendrive, I will go through the procedures to create a boot device and start it through your computer to try to recover the system.

Method 1

First try to access the Bios Setup, activate the UEFI option and disable the Secure Boot and Fast Boot options. To finish, press F10> Yes. If you have questions about accessing Setup, check the equipment manual or consult the device manufacturer.

Start your computer and check if the behavior persists.

Method 2

Download the tool according to the installed Windows 10 architecture. On here: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

Run the downloaded setup and click Create installation media for another computer;

Select the Language, then select the edition and architecture according to the installed Windows 10;

Connect the Pen Drive;

Click Next;

Select the USB Flash Drive option and click Next;

Click Finish;

When the installation window appears, click Repair your computer;

Click Troubleshooting> Advanced Options;

Among the options presented, follow the procedures below:

Access the System in Safe Mode (Diagnostic Mode):

Click Troubleshooting> Advanced Options> Startup Settings> click Restart> press the 5 or F5 key to access Safe Mode with Networking.

Redoing the Windows 10 startup files:

Click on Troubleshooting> Advanced Options> Command Prompt> enter your Account and enter the commands:

CHKDSK /R /F X: [Enter]

Bootrec /Scanos [Enter]

Bootrec /Rebuildbcd [Enter]

Bootrec /Fixmbr [Enter]

Bootrec /Fixboot [Enter]

Restore the System by deleting everything:

Troubleshooting> Restore your PC> Remove Everything.

Note: Before performing the Restore System procedure by deleting everything, we advise you to make a backup of your data. You can connect your hard drive to another computer and transfer your personal files.

Have gone into BIOS and now

Secure Boot is disabled

Under the Startup option

CSM is disabled

Boot Mode is UEFI only (cannot be changed unless CSM is enabled)

There is no fast boot option

Would ask lenovo support but when asked about the problem upgrading their response was it was beyond their scope

So you want me to create a usb stick with windows 10 install on it? and boot to it from reset?

If this goes wrong to create a system repair disc and use the usb recovery drive i have created previously which i think takes me back to version 1903. The system repair disc is only creatable here to a dvd.

Dear Graham,another way to access secure boot is: Type msconfig in the Windows search bar and enter, click on "System boot" and under "Advanced Options" check the "Safe Boot" option and then Network.

Make a backup of your files before performing this procedure, and returning to version 1903 you can resume this update via Windows Update.

If you are not comfortable performing these procedures, I suggest you take the computer to a trusted technician.

So to clean install

put usb with windows 10 into any usb slot

reboot computer

when windows install screen appears click next

click install now

click do not have key

click custom install

delete all partitions to leave drive 0 and it is all unallocated

then click next to install

If this fails to use system repair disc and the recovery drive i already have to return pc to initial stage. It is the failure ti install windows via the usb and i am left with a system minus o/s i am concerned about.

Dear Graham,you will not delete the partitions, follow the steps below for repair. (If you are not comfortable doing it, take it to a trusted technician)

1. Insert the Windows installation media into the disk drive or USB port and turn on the computer;
2. Press a key on your keyboard when the message "Press any key to start from a CD or DVD" is displayed;
3. Select the Language to install, Time and currency format and the Keyboard or input method and click Next;
4. Click Repair your computer;
5. Then click on Troubleshooting> Restore PC> Maintain my files.

Note: This process does not alter or remove your personal files. However, it is recommended that you have the Backup of your files. As it is a long process, external interferences such as variations in the electrical network or unexpected equipment shutdown can generate failures and cause damage to system and personal files.
