Update 20H2 won't install

Hello!

I noticed my pc needed to update, and clicked update and restart (for whatever reason, update and shutdown wasn't an option, just sleep, shutdown, or update and restart). Part of the way through the update my computer blue screened and restarted. After this, it rolled back what it had installed. When I got back into windows, update 20H2 had not installed, and I noticed that another update, KB4580980, was needed. When I attempted to install, it ran into errors. I restarted my computer, and attempted to install again, and this time despite not showing any errors, after restarting as requested, no update was applied, though update KB4580980 had installed. This time I tried to uninstall any updates I'd made today, but could only remove KB4580980. After restarting, it still won't update, and now KB4580980 won't install either.

I don't want to do any formats to my computer, because re-installing all my apps is annoying, and if a reset that doesn't delete my files doesn't work then I'll have to buy an external hard-drive to backup my data and do a complete format, which I'd also like to avoid.

Anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks for your help.

Try updating to version 20H2 using the Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

    Delete the Download folder in C: Windows-Software Distribution. Try again afterward.

    hi this is what i have on a machine when i check my system for windows version it says version 20h2 and when i check its all matching is this error an error its only recently  for some last week for me  as if its seems installed all looks ok everything is running as of normal but i get an error after restarting about some files not being installed correctly but all seems well but a red error on update page has been there for weeks and  then i used media tool and after reinstalling it did the same and the next time and the next then i left it is this a bug as its quite frustrating i cant get why 4 attempts maybe a bad media tool or a common issue is it unsafe to use like this and obviously yes but why this is more of a question I've been asked to find a answer lots using with error like most lol i speak to i think there's a bad windows media tool or something these little things take hours when your in a hurry this happens every update btw there's some sort of error why I ask as some times its not there then I check its there ill restart it will say all up to date then click check know as says avalble well I think its installed but it doesn't think so as all my drivers are up to date nothing reminding me of the update ONLY edge i refuse to have it installed is that my error no new edge as disabled in services with manual activation not auto and my windows 10 matches the build that I did install  yet error I thought bad windows installbut no service detects its doesn't match so error is just there unless I reset and start again fudge that as its so time consuming setting it up for gaming again to wait a few weeks intill a new error arrives and  in 2 years 4 resets for this reason i love windows but why is it so heavy still ffs and also so unreliable please say there's been a fix and I have a bad download the first time I've been upset with the service as I fell unsafe what if it was for the windows security update that failed and sorry for the expressions but i used media tool to get here
