Update 20H2 won't install

Hello!

I noticed my pc needed to update, and clicked update and restart (for whatever reason, update and shutdown wasn't an option, just sleep, shutdown, or update and restart). Part of the way through the update my computer blue screened and restarted. After this, it rolled back what it had installed. When I got back into windows, update 20H2 had not installed, and I noticed that another update, KB4580980, was needed. When I attempted to install, it ran into errors. I restarted my computer, and attempted to install again, and this time despite not showing any errors, after restarting as requested, no update was applied, though update KB4580980 had installed. This time I tried to uninstall any updates I'd made today, but could only remove KB4580980. After restarting, it still won't update, and now KB4580980 won't install either.

I don't want to do any formats to my computer, because re-installing all my apps is annoying, and if a reset that doesn't delete my files doesn't work then I'll have to buy an external hard-drive to backup my data and do a complete format, which I'd also like to avoid.

Anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks for your help.

Try updating to version 20H2 using the Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

    I had the same issue and did the same but it didn't work for me. I'm running an 8th gen core i5 with 12 gigs of ram(one 4 gig and one 8 gig). I had my copy of windows originally installed on a 1tb hard drive but later cloned it to an nvme ssd, 512gb. After trying everything to deal with this issue I reinstalled windows on my ssd and everything was fine

    I was able to complete the upgrade without reinstalling by updating my display drivers then disabling them in Device Manager before doing the restart and install. Hope this helps someone.

    I just tried to install the 20H2 update using the media tool and it still failed.  It failed on second boot with error 0xc1900101 and then some other numbers.  I also have another attempt with this error code 0x8024000b.  Media tool method did not work for me.

    I have Windows 10 Home, 64 bit OS.  Version 1909, installed 7/20/2019.  Build 18363.1500

    I don't know what to do.
