Update 20H2 won't install

Hello!

I noticed my pc needed to update, and clicked update and restart (for whatever reason, update and shutdown wasn't an option, just sleep, shutdown, or update and restart). Part of the way through the update my computer blue screened and restarted. After this, it rolled back what it had installed. When I got back into windows, update 20H2 had not installed, and I noticed that another update, KB4580980, was needed. When I attempted to install, it ran into errors. I restarted my computer, and attempted to install again, and this time despite not showing any errors, after restarting as requested, no update was applied, though update KB4580980 had installed. This time I tried to uninstall any updates I'd made today, but could only remove KB4580980. After restarting, it still won't update, and now KB4580980 won't install either.

I don't want to do any formats to my computer, because re-installing all my apps is annoying, and if a reset that doesn't delete my files doesn't work then I'll have to buy an external hard-drive to backup my data and do a complete format, which I'd also like to avoid.

Anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks for your help.

Try updating to version 20H2 using the Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

    Finally done it!!!

    Nothing anyone suggested worked, heres my solution....

    I had two issues:

    I couldn't update past 1909

    I couldn't boot to USB

    I downloaded the latest windows with the media creation tool (I'd done that maybe 10 times previously).

    I checked my bios version, it seemed old. Went on the Gigabyte website and there were lots of updates. 

    I was on F22, I'm now on F40. F40 isn't even the latest one, but it was the one required to go further forward. 

    Bios updated from windows, PC rebooted and booted straight to my USB, I went through the options totally wiping the partitions and doing a fresh windows install. I'm now on version 20H2! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Now, do I update to the newest bios? Hmmm, I guess I should. 

    Hope this helps anyone having the same issue.

    Oh.... My MB is a AB350-Gaming 3

    all many thganks for the advice  i put a notice on the 11/12 Feb, this is now sorted
