Update 20H2 won't install

Hello!

I noticed my pc needed to update, and clicked update and restart (for whatever reason, update and shutdown wasn't an option, just sleep, shutdown, or update and restart). Part of the way through the update my computer blue screened and restarted. After this, it rolled back what it had installed. When I got back into windows, update 20H2 had not installed, and I noticed that another update, KB4580980, was needed. When I attempted to install, it ran into errors. I restarted my computer, and attempted to install again, and this time despite not showing any errors, after restarting as requested, no update was applied, though update KB4580980 had installed. This time I tried to uninstall any updates I'd made today, but could only remove KB4580980. After restarting, it still won't update, and now KB4580980 won't install either.

I don't want to do any formats to my computer, because re-installing all my apps is annoying, and if a reset that doesn't delete my files doesn't work then I'll have to buy an external hard-drive to backup my data and do a complete format, which I'd also like to avoid.

Anyone have any idea what to do? Thanks for your help.

Try updating to version 20H2 using the Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file.

Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

I am having the same issue as many others. I just cant install the 20H2 update. I have tried windows update, media creation tool and even a full format and reinstall. Nope. I am stuck. Totally stuck.

It must be a certain piece of hardware that we are using. If you are all interested let's post out specs. I'm writing this before I sleep, and can provide a better list, but off the top of my head:

Gigabyte motherboard

Ryzen CPU

1060 6GB Graphics card

Crucial SSD

Wireless USB Logitech keyboard with mouse pad

16GB Ram

Will check specific models and post here if others are interested in doing this, what do you say guys?

OK,perhaps I should have tried this earlier, but I didn't because I refuse to go online with my AV disabled.

Downloaded Win10 ISO onto a USB;

Disconnected from internet;

Disabled AV, Malwarebytes, & Superantispyware;

Ran Win10 from USB.

Worked!

Downside - PC automatically turned on but AV not! Thanks Microsoft [I use Kaspersky, not defender].

I've tried everything in the whole of this thread - and more - and NOTHING has worked:

"Stop Code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

What failed? aksfridge.sys 0xC1900101-04000D"

Also:

"Installation failed at SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATAOPERATION."

Why should I have to spend hours doing a clean install of Windows and then ALL the rest of my software, wasting me hours/days of my time?

I find it appalling that Microsoft will not continue to support a version of Windows which they cannot successfully update.
