Windows 10, version 1809, will reach end of service on November 10, 2020 for devices running Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstation, and IoT Core editions. These devices will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.

IMPORTANT

Windows 10, version 1903 will reach end of servicing on December 8, 2020. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends that you update to the latest version of Windows 10. If you want to update to Windows 10, version 1909, you must use the Enablement Package KB4517245 (EKB). Using the EKB makes updating faster and easier and requires a single restart. Tried the same, but did not work for me either. Microsoft messed up the Autorotation function of my convertible laptop and is legally responsible for the damage.

I live in 2 places 1000 miles plus apart...nothing seems to work on my computer....including internet sometimes.  Having to buy a computer at this time of year is impossible.  Obviously, Bill Gates isn't interest in Christmas much...

Sue in rural BC with dying computer and intermittent internet.  arghhHHHH!

    Hello mrdbeta

I of course did all the normal update checks already.

However, it is of course the legal responsibility of Microsoft to care for the damage which they cause due to their update activity on customers devices. Even more, Microsoft also should compensate my hours spent, trying to solve the damage caused by the unprofessional Microsoft update.

Do you know Microsoft's official e-mail address (I am in Sweden) to complain as first step and to demand the repair the damage within a reasonable timeframe? I am sure that Microsoft must have a liability insurance, which will cover the repair work of the damage they caused.

I need to do this very formal, in writing and documented, since if there is no reaction I will take legal action.

I do not consider this help forum as a legal valid place to file a complaint.

And thanks for the Windows Update Catalog. Certainly you do have good intentions to help, but do you really believe that 25 pages with hundreds of different drivers and the comment "before download be sure that you get the correct drivers" is a sufficient reply, considering the full responsibility of Microsoft in this case?

I would therefore be thankful, if you let me know which of the many drivers I need to download in order to try and which driver for which of the 4 hardware items to use.

I am sorry, but I increasingly feel mucked by Microsoft.

My expection would be: Please inform Microsoft and their helpdesk will correct the problem in a remote session. Can you please arrange? I will of course provide all details needed to arrange a remote session (but not here in this public forum).

    Thanks in advance.

    Peter
