I have tried to do the Oct. 2020 upgrade by both auto download via Windows update and now by the media creation tool. Both times it stopped at 90%. Then after 24 hours I shut it down and then the system does not boot. Gets to the 1st Windows 10 photo wallpaper but never loads the sign in screen. I tried to do startup recovery as well but no luck. Windows just says that the startup repair could not be completed. So fortunately I had cloned it before I let it run the 1st time and was able to reset it. But since it won’t load either by the automatic windows update or by the created installation media I am going to just turn off the Auto updates so the office can keep working and not perform this upgrade on any of the office computers. Perhaps others will be having this same issue. Since Microsoft will not support the previous version next year they will fix the bugs in this new Oct 2020 version soon.

2020-11-15T18:03:51+00:00 In this last update Microsoft installed some kind of VPN service on my computer that I can not delete.
I do not want to send my activities to any companies servers that are affiliated with microsoft. It seems like the program is interfering with my other VPN and sending data to microsoft servers which makes my computer totally insecure.
I was told that Microsoft no longer has support techs to login into my computer to remove programs like this.
I should not have to use CLI to remove windows programs!
This is not the first time or the second or third time- I have had to have customer service remote into my computer to remove a windows program that will not uninstall.
My privacy has been intruded on!
I asked a few of my friend about their windows update and they do not have the VPN installed on their computers with the update so, why have I been singled out?
I am not in any beta testing group.
Have customer service contact me right away so we can get this resolved.
The VPN is signed with microsoft certificate.
- Why did you install a service on my PC that I already am paying for? This gives you an unfair advantage in the marketplace and proves that you have a monopoly.
- Why was I targeted? Was it based on the fact that I already have a VPN service and you are monitoring my activities online?
- Why can't I remove this program?
- Every update breaks programs and searching/navigating on my computer please stop!
I have my windows update set on a limited connection to prevent constant updates because all these updates break my computer.
I want to turn off automatic updates but I can't which just shows me that I don't even own my PC anymore because you can just add whatever programs you want to it.
Due to these issues I rarely even use my Windows PC anymore and mostly stick to mac and the reason is because of these non-essential updates.
