Bluetooth mouse freezes intermittently since the May Windows 10 (ver. 2004) update

Ever since this update my Bluetooth mouse continues to freeze for a few seconds intermittently. I own a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse and

Microsoft Modern Bluetooth Mouse and the problem exists with both. Tried a Logitech Pebble and again, the same issue. I've tried the troubleshooter

  • it solves nothing. Tried to update drivers - nothing. Restarting Bluetooth - doesn't work.

No matter what attempts to resolve this problem I have discovered, they have all failed.

Can someone help me with this?

This is a summary of the Potential solutions I found in this thread. I am not sure which one would work the best or work at all:

DISABLE BLUETOOTH POWER SAVE

Press Windows + X and select Device Manager

There you will find the Bluetooth adapter

Right click the adapter and select Properties

Uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"

Click Ok

MOUSE REGISTRY HACK

Add the following keys at this location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_8087&PID_0026\5&2816b067&0&10\Device Parameters

"DeviceSelectiveSuspended"=dword:00000000

"SelectiveSuspendEnabled"=dword:00000000

"SelectiveSuspendSupported"=dword:00000000

ENABLE MOUSE POINTER TRAILS

Go to Settings > Mouse

Click "Additional Mouse Options"

Click the "Pointer Options" tab in the resulting dialog box

Check the "Display Pointer Trails" box, you may also want to set the slider to short

Click Ok

DISABLE ENHANCE POINTER PRECISION

Go to Settings > Mouse.

Click the "Additional Mouse Options" option

Click the "Pointer Options" tab in the resulting dialog box

Uncheck the "Enhance pointer precision" box

Click Ok

SCREEN & SLEEP OPTIONS

Press Windows + X and select Power Options

Set the power option to NEVER for screen and sleep

    Don't care is the optimum words. I do not have a Logitech, I only have Microsoft stuff and it seems that they still do not care.

    Seems that they are so busy re-vamping Windows 10 that they are not even looking at issues in this version any longer.

    Maybe it will get resolved in windows 11!! Here is hoping!

    I know this is a really old thread, but I recently got a new laptop that had these issues. I found my fix here. Specifically, changing/adding the reg entries (which then requires a restart to take effect):

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_8087&PID_0026\5&2816b067&0&10\Device Parameters

    "DeviceSelectiveSuspended"=dword:00000000

    "SelectiveSuspendEnabled"=dword:00000000

    "SelectiveSuspendSupported"=dword:00000000

    DeviceSelectiveSuspended was already there for me, which was set to 1. I tried changing it to 0 on its own, but it just kept changing back to 1 after restarting. Then I added the other two reg entries (which weren't there at all) and after restarting, it worked and fixed the issue.

    I originally got a Dell and the above fix worked. I sent the Dell back because I didn't like it and got an entirely different branded laptop which had the same problem. Again the fix above worked. Come on Microsoft/Logitech... the same issue across two different branded devices?

    On my Dell desktop XPS8900, I'm using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard and a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse. Both are managed by the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. I'm having the same problems on my laptop, Dell XPS 15 9560

    On the desktop machine, my registry does not include the key ...\USB\VID_8087&PID_0026. There are several keys that begin with ...\USB\VID_ followed by 4 hex digits and more. I have no idea what these devices are.

    It could be specific to Intel Bluetooth chipsets/drivers... try locating it here:

    1. Open 'Device Manager' through start menu or WIN+X or WIN+R typing devmgmt.msc
    2. Expand Bluetooth
    3. Go in properties of 'Intel(R) Wirekess Bluetooth(R)'
    4. Select 'Details' tab
    5. Select 'Device instance path' from drop-down and look at the value

    Find this value in the registry and that should be what you're looking for. Of course depending on your system, it could be one of the other Bluetooth entries listed - have a nosey around. I have the Logitech MX Anywhere mouse, but this should apply to other bluetooth devices also.
