Bluetooth mouse freezes intermittently since the May Windows 10 (ver. 2004) update

MS may not be deliberately sabotaging Logitech but I bet they just don't care.

Whet gets me is that Logitech apparently is doing nothing about it.

I have a similar issue that some are reporting here, except that my Bluetooth Precision Mouse and Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard will freeze indefinitely until I open the Bluetooth Settings panel using my wired keyboard (without toggling any settings, just opening settings) and then the mouse reconnects. This already happened to me twice since I started typing this.

As always, I've tried every thing under the sun to get this to work and Microsoft support only provides the same old low effort reply ("turn it off and on again", "update drivers", "toggle the power management settings"...etc, etc). This is my first time using a Windows after years of Mac (I had to for work) so I'm again disappointed to see Windows is still just as much a mess as I remember.

I almost attributed this to Microsoft subtly sabotaging Logitech's mouse to boost sales of MS's own mouse but apparently the bug is not deliberate.

And yes, it is annoying that no one will admit there really is a problem. Without that admission how can it ever get fixed?

Can MS really be this dense?

I have a Surface Laptop 2 and a Surface mobile mouse and have the exact same issue.

Randomly the curser freezes or even disappears from screen. Could take anywhere from a few seconds to 20-30 seconds to start responding.

Not that it should have gone to sleep mode due to non use, as it happens while I am using it.

I too have tried everything that I know about hardware, drivers and software. Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard Center software is also installed and configured.

If and when Microsoft support comes up with an answer, I would be interested to hear about a solution, as it is super frustrating.

I've been having this issue on my XPS2740 and an MS Designer BT Mouse, as well as a brand spanking new KM717 Premium Wireless Keyboard and Mouse for a little bit. I even upgraded the wireless/bluetooth card from the stock Intel Wireless-N 7260, to the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 to see if it made any difference - it did not.

For those looking to disable power management for their Bluetooth mouse/keyboard check under Human Interface Devices - not sure why but Microsoft in their infinite wisdom (I say that with the most palatable sarcasm possible) have not removed the power management tab and check box, just moved it.

But what seems to have worked for me is something called Bluetooth Collaboration or in my case, Bluetooth AMP - which has something to do with the ability to connect a device via Bluetooth initially, then use the WIFI to transmit data.

In this vid, old mate changes a setting on his wireless adapter driver called Bluetooth Collaboration to disabled. For me, I disabled Bluetooth(R) AMP and it is located at;

Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

Then Double Click or Right Click and select Properties, then the Advanced tab, and scroll through the list until you see either of the options above or something similar, then change it to disabled.

I am not sure if this will work for those of you with a dedicated Bluetooth dongle, but this was the options for me because my Bluetooth is on board with my Intel Wireless PCIe Mini Card.

If the computer has been off for a while (sleep mode?) when I first start using it I often get a single short freeze but that's all. The mouse is reliable from then on. Until the next time I wake up a cold computer.
