Task manager on my windows desktop says that efficiency mode is active for several but not all sub-processes of google chrome and I believe that is the reason for the drop in performance. My running theory for why this is happening and why its only happening to chrome is because microsoft is trying to turn people away from chrome and towards edge. Which is really not a very good look for the company. I don't know why we aren't able to just turn off efficiency mode on the main google chrome box in task manager instead of having to turn it off on every sub-process. Ridiculous. There better be a fix for this soon because this is unacceptable. I'm not sure about that. I am having the same issue with both Chrome and Edge. Teams as well. Whatever genius came up with this buggy **** needs to find another career.
