How to disable efficiency mode in task manager? Windows efficiency mode is making apps like Google Chrome unusable.

Task manager on my windows desktop  says that efficiency mode is active for several but not all sub-processes of google chrome and I believe that is the reason for the drop in performance.

I am able to disable efficiency mode for each individual sub-process, but *it returns a few minutes later. I cannot permanently disable it.*Simple actions such as changing a tab or moving the window causes it to freeze for several minutes. 

  • I have no recent or current updates to install. Everything is up to date.- There are no other demanding processes / apps running on my pc- I have tried altering Chrome's performance and memory settings. Nothing changed.- This problem is the same with Edge and some other applications.- Efficiency mode is greyed out for the entire application. Only certain sub-processes of chrome are in efficiency mode.

The only difference between yesterday and today, is that efficiency mode is active non-stop.

I do not want efficiency mode running at all for google chrome as it is the main browser I use for work and school.

    Microsoft's intention is to make Chrome unusable. I have tried multiple methods, such as this one. They only work until Windows discovers them and prevents them from working.

    It's time for another Anti-Trust lawsuit against Microsoft. Has anyone heard of Netscape.....

    I'm having this same issue!!

    My running theory for why this is happening and why its only happening to chrome is because microsoft is trying to turn people away from chrome and towards edge. Which is really not a very good look for the company.

    Ridiculous.

    There better be a fix for this soon because this is unacceptable.

    This is not the first time Microsoft has used this tactic to attack it's competitors. This process is fundamental to Microsoft's Business in general, and internet tools in specific. Microsoft was sued, and lost, for antitrust violations in years past. But the USA Government did absolutely nothing to penalize Microsoft. Thus, the business plan was validated by the government and continues unabated.

    I prefer to choose my own performance settings Microsoft. Stop trying to be all Green when I need my PC to actually work as designed.
